If you can get the socket on the plug you could try any of the assorted flexible extentions and possibly get it out that way, putting it back in may be even more difficult.A piece of rubber hose, heater hose, can be used, just stick the plug into the hose and try to work it into place and finger tight.

Short of that,I've heard the loosening of the motor mounts might be needed to remove said plug, why do you think the shop wanted so much to do the job???

I had a 1967 Firebird that I never changed the #8 plug on because I couldn't get to it.

Vans don't have those engine covers inside the cab anymore?

They should, but IIRC, #1 is still a PITA to replace.

Wakes if you can get it out,try the hose trick.I find if you hold your tongue just right, that helps alot. :lol :lol

Stick the plug into a rubber hose, small one like heater hose or vacuum line and try to work the plug in place.

you didn't get it yet?

try either going from the back, through the doghouse.....break it loose, then thread it out by hand.

if you have access to a double swivel spark plug socket, then go under/around the alternator, and get it from under the hood.
