American Standard furnace blower
« on: December 04, 2010, 07:27:12 PM »
Since there is very little information online.....

I have an American Standard freedom 80 single stage furnace and I cannot find any information to speed up the blower fan. Looked for a model number on the furnace and there is no data plate to be found anywhere inside or out.

Without swapping electric motors, I'd say yer best bet would be to swap out pulleys. It shouldn't be hard to find a larger pulley (perhaps from a different model). Talk to the local heating/cooling guy.

I can getcha a beer but I have single handedly disposed of every sausage pizza within 100 miles of here

For the furnace....on the control board there were four wires on spade connectors that plug into the control board itself for the blower fan. One terminal is the blower speed for the cooling side and the other is for the heating side. The cooling side was set to high for the AC during the summer before I moved in, and the heating side was set to a lower speed. I simply changed the jumper on the heating side to a higher speed to move air faster

Is this a gas or electric furnace? Heat pump? The reason I ask is that moving the air too fast will end up keeping it from getting good and warm as the air doesn't have a chance of really getting heated passing through the furnace. I found that one out with the heat pump on our RV.

This is natural gas. Upping the speed did increase the airflow from the registers and its still toasty warm so looks to be 100% still
