Under 12k fights i'd take a spit 8 any higher and i'd want a spit 9, due to the Merlin types they carry.

I'm not too keen on the 16, as I always thought it had a true bubble canopy in the real world and ours doesn't. Spit 14 is always fun with it's acceleration and ability to out turn itself, but spending perks on it and it's ugly long nose... *scoffs*

I fear a spit 8 above all others. Simply because I have found the truly talented spit sticks fly the 8 (the 9 as a close second). You normally don't find inexperienced sticks in an 8.

I like the Spit9, pink one at that.

One note, if you choose to fight the Spit16 while flying the Spit9 do not go verticle. The Spit16 will outdo the Spit9 in about two verticle turns. I learned this the hard way against Micky D about a month ago. I'm still annoyed at that but hey...gotta learn somehow and the hard way is the best. I think.

Spit 14 all the way. Its the hardest to fly IMO. Plus, its a good one for running down alt monkeys.

The Spit16 is the best.  It can do it all. It is the womder plane of AH.

Spit MkIX.

To me the best tactical all-around Spit unless I need to bomb something, then I roll out the MkVIII.

You may not realize this: The spit9 was a higher altitude FTH, but the spit8/16 have a higher boost level. The spit9 is slower than the 8/16 at all alts up to 27k, and then it's only about 10-15mph faster.

It also (for whatever reason?) has a worse turning radius than both the 8/16. It's not worth it. There is no advantage to be had against the other planes.

Okay, to refocus a bit....

I'm flying the Spit 9 right now and having a lot of fun with it.  What are the advantages/disadvantages to trying the Spit 8?  Also, I flew the Seafire for a few hops today, and it seems to stall out a lot easier than the 9.  Why is that, pray tell?

Spitfire VIII will be faster and climb better at altitudes below about 25,000ft.  It has more fuel and thus longer endurance.  It is, however, a bit heavier.

Seafire Mk II is a navalized Spitfire Mk Vc, and thus has a less powerful engine than the Mk IX.  It is also heavier than a Spitfire Mk Vc due to the naval gear.
