on the subject of gunnery hit %

currently the hit% counter for guns has a problem.

straffing ground targets screws up gunnery hit % !!!!

you can always tell who does a lot of jabo straffing and close air support because their gunnery hit % is in th 7% to 5% range.

look at fatty's hit% for guns 5% yet he can deadeye acks and level fields with his aiming ability.

when someone chooses to be a score potato and rack up a 30% hit ratio they almost never ever attack ground targets... why?

because that would hurt their gunnery hit %

all I'm saying is that the gunnery hit% is totally irelevant for anyone who uses a fighter as a ground attack aircraft.

this does not promote ground attack w guns in fact it makes it almost inconcievable to those who love their hit%.

is there any way to not add gun bursts shot at ground targets into the air to air hit%?

so that those who enjoy jabo can still see an accurate representation of how much they hit and miss against air targets when they fire at them??

I always wondered why my hit % is so low recently.  I've been flying the p51 and I find that the 50s are real easy to score hits with compared to mg151.  After a night of ground pounding with heavy p51s my hit % was WAY down.  (Dropped a whole 4%)  Now I know why.

maybe they could make all hits count as hits and all misses count as misses regardless of ground or air and make the total for each the same on the bomber and fighter score.

sure there would be fools who would jabo a lot agains hangars and such...

but isn't that prefered to just circling in the sky waiting for someone else to come along to destroy the factory or field who dinnae give a crap about what the stupid hit% says?

? I would rather they keep seperate stats for accuracy then make the air to air one meanigless by letting you pad it shooting at hangers...

#@!$#@!
"by letting you pad it shooting at hangers"

well thanks for the insult pongo.

but my point is that the current gunnery hit counter does not promote straffing runs on ground targets.

would you straff a V hangar on a field with a goon inbound? or just vulch whatever comes out of the hangars?

I seriously doubt you would dare do such things and wreck that 14% hit ratio correct?

I don't see any way to effectively do this Citabria.  Even if somehow it could be put in, I don't see where you could draw a line between ground scoring and a2a scoring without a lot of griping about one side or the other.  After all, all the bullets hit the ground eventually

I love you too Cit.
Please include "dont disagree with me or I will inflict lame insults on you" in your posts in future. Then I know you want to preach not discuss.
I could care less for my score. But I like to know if my gunnery is improving or not.
I probably am not alone in that.

We need a seperate fighter-bomber score category.  If you roll with rockets or bombs, then everything goes under that category.
