hey guys i am doing a research project on the 8th air force during world war two. i wanted some of yalls input on it. information coming from people who might actually know a thing or two about it. (instead of Wikipedia). if you have any information it would be awesome to hear! <S>

Suggest you invest in "The Mighty Eighth" by Roger Freeman.

My copy is barely holding together with lots of tape.  I've had it for 30 years and I still don't believe you'll find a better history of the 8th.

yes but i am not a member because i live out of city limits and it would cost too much for me to pay. i dont use it much because the high school library normally covers it.

Well if you've got an afternoon, you can go in there and just do your research there without checking a book out.

+1, got a copy myself. There is an prologue dedicated to the Bloody Hundredth BG plus 17 chapters full of first hand accounts taken from archival research as well as personal stories by the airmen who fought. Its a highly in-depth look into the hardships faced by both the bomber crews and the German people caught under the bombs. Has an interesting bit about Jimmy Stewart and his time in the 8th as a flight commander as well.
