Anyone heard anything about Alienware PCs?

I've read some nice things about these guys game systems.  They are really kick bellybutton systems from reading the specs and the options you can choose from.

I'm just not interested in building yet *another* PC.  Then again, the offerings from Dell, Gateway and such really do not impress me.

Has anyone purchased an Alienware system?  Comments?  I'm eyeing a real monster system with the Athlon XP cpu, Geoforce 3 and SCSI hard drives.  <Drool>

One of our squadron members bought one a few months ago. By all indications he likes it and the support/service that came with it. I will point him in this direction to get him to comment on his experience.

My little brother bought an Athlon 1.4, GF3 Alienware in August.

It is a really damn nice machine.  Because Dell uses Intel processors, and they are so much more for the same speed, Alienware gets my vote.  The warranties are good, the hardware is top notch, and performance is basically unbeatable.

I got an Alienware 1.4 w Gforce 3 in July.
Support is great and I would reccommend the 3 year plan.  They are in Florida and I live in Hawaii.  If it breaks they ship the part Fedex and a tech comes to my house to fix it.

Follow proper Netiquette...we're discussing Alien Computers, nice hijack attempt   :)

I have a Voodoo 5, its an OK card but the next system is going to be worthy of droolage!

Those machines look awesome, they use antec cases too. Those are quality machines, but you are paying a quality price too. You can build that same machine much less.

hehe, ammo's hooked and is preaching the gospel. Once you build one for yourself and see how easy they are to assemble, you'll never buy another brand name pc again.  :)

You could do it yourself cheaper I'm sure.  They are probably pretty good systems, but you will probably do better if you or a local computer store build it for you.  Just be very specific in what hardware to use.

Oh I know, and I've done that all before (built my own, had local folks built one for me when time was sparse)....but the Alien PCs seem to be cutting edge, built by gamers, so I needn't go track benchmarks and find the best stuff on my own or educate the local computer guys as to What's Hot.

I like what I see, and if the budget allows, I'll grab one   :)

Been running an Alienware 1.2 with Gforce2Ultra since Feb with great results.  But I think I'll be up to building the next machine.  (The final selling point is the customer support that they have rated - not that I have need it).  This machine would be sweeter with a SCSI hard drive.  ;)
