pilot wound sound
« on: December 14, 2010, 12:29:39 PM »
Dichotomy was kind enough to make me a .wav file to replace the in-game pilot wound sound.
The problem is I can't hear it in the game.  The file is labeled "pwound.wav".  Installed in my sounds file, then checked the advanced menu on the clipboard and no such sound is listed (no way to make it louder).  A little help from the sound gurus please?

To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."

Next time you get a pilot wound, just jam a steak knife into your thigh and sit back and enjoy the screams.  If you get it in there deep enough, you might even get the added realism of blacking out also!

Sigh.

 :D sorry I can't help you, but I couldn't resist.

EDIT:  I'm not sure the pwound.wav file even shows up in the advanced sounds, mine doesn't.  I believe I have ranger's sound pack.  Have you received a pilot wound yet to confirm you can't hear anything?

Oh yeah, I got one within minutes of logging on.  It's the one thing I'm really good at.

FYI, it's not a scream, but a brief (funny and very appropriate) quote from Bad Santa.
"Then out spake brave Horatius, the Captain of the gate:
To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.

That would be the only thing I can think of, other than double checking the file is .wav, there isn't another pwound.wav in there, and that the file actually plays.

It plays fine.  It could be because the stock sound is barely audible that the new sound is the same way.

Just need it listed in the advanced sounds section.

hmm... I saved it as a wav.  When I get home tonight I'll turn the db's up on it and hope Ranger pokes his head in here in case I missed a step.  I'll shoot you the new one tonight.

Was gonna say, use your favorite sound editing software, turn up the gain and save it that way.

Could it be your pilot-wound sound level in the in-game options is turned way down?
