Why DO people hate Bill Gates?

Totally agree Skuzzy.

Thankfully I got away from desktop and user support some time ago.  Dunno how people do it, many's the time I've put the phone on mute and asked a colleague to please shoot me.

And then you get the secretary who's a total expert on Word and just because I dont give a cr*p and havn't learned *every* keyboard shortcut she decides she knows more than me.....and thinks I'm wrong when I say she really shouldnt be using the CD rom as a cup holder or have the goldfish bowl on top of the monitor.  Sigh.  (L)users.

But now I'm 3rd level ISP support and ya know what?  Helpdesk operators are worse than lusers could ever be.  Not only are they all braindead but most of em seem to think that once they've learned 3 commands to run on an RS6K, now they're all Unix experts.  I tell someone to report a fault to PTT and I get  back "I dial the number ok".  Bollocks, I reply.  A verbal exchange ensues usually involving me wanting to know which God granted the miracle of getting a connection to a gateway with no active lines running into it.

Worse still is any and all kinds of non-technical management.   Why do they insist on knowing what the exact defined meaning of what a "Gateway" is?  Who cares what Remote Access Operational Support actually means?  Even once explained they dont understand it anyway.

And how come they never believe me when I tell em it's normal proceedure to get an Easter bonus?
