Those Microsoft Win98 SE updates...
« on: April 20, 2001, 05:28:00 PM »
Are they worth getting? I don't really have any problems with my install, which hasn't been changed since I installed it off the disk.

Has anyone had a problem with them?

Cheers.

Yeah, most seem to be security based, so I'd say its a good idea. You can pick through, and uncheck items that dont apply to you, and save DL time.

I just did all this for the new machine and havent had any problems, except for the new media player(7.0?) It just takes over most media stuff causing headaches.

I agree, those are worth getting..
security updates and some system updates that should make it more stable.
Though, WMP 7 sucks, not only that it takes over some media stuff, but its interface doesnt satisfy me at all compared to older one.

I agree, MP7 is horrible.

You have to remember that windows98 is one of the most buggy and unsecure OS's ever released in the history of mankind.

You should get _every_ security patch you can get and still be worried. I reckommend getting a good firewall if you plan to be a lot online.
