Pawn is a perfectly acceptable bastardization of own, and has been in use for quite some time.
To each their pwn.

Sorry, just had a friend who used to always say "you got pawned" when everyone else said "pwned" as in "owned" where it originated from mispelling. Pawn is a chess piece. Something being pawned is being sold. At least thats the way I think.

Back on topic, it looks like it would be fun to shooot down.  :neener:

Anyone else look at that wing shape and immediately think "my god that thing must stall in a very ugly way..."?

Looks a bit like some one put an inline on an La7. That being a close observation, how much different is the overall performance of the Yak3, La7, spit16, G14 and K4 to each other in MA terms? How will they compair in sustained turn, top speed and zoom climb below 12k?

By the time the Yak3 entered combat in force german pilots were no longer the best of the best. Germany could not afford to loose even their less than average skilled pilots. The russian pilots at this time were getting their stride and a La7, La5, Yak3 or Yak9 translated into them being the expertin that german pilots were a few years earlier. A russian pilot that had survived up to the point that Yak3's were being introduced would be very scary to the german command in light of the low skillsets of the average german pilot on the eastern front.

I don't think the Yak3 will make newer players into expertin by just flying it if they cannot make an La7 or Yak9u a potent wheapon outside of going to the HO for every merg to begin with. Most players will just turn it into a sub 12k "Baby Poni" ("Rebenka loshad") and run away alot with it.

Its a monster,

not as fast as an LA7 and will not acclerate as much, it does not have a great wepons loadout, but it will climb like an angel and is much lighter and more powerful then a 9u - which means it will be very fast.  this plane will make dedicated 9u pilots a lot stronger and I am waiting eagerly for it (with appropriate nn skin with lighting bolt to boot!!).

the spacifics evade me and I am sure someone can chime in with the details (i can dig them up i guess. . . but some people have access to the trusty books, and mine are not with me he in afganistan).

i think the Yak-3 would be a great addition, seeing as it was the main air superiority fighter the Russians used
