This is Shifty's set up, recreating the Kursk salient with the Hungary map.
Basically the battle should be contained from the 12 line North to the 16 line South then from the
18 line West to the 14 line East. All bases not in these areas are neutral.

GV's only for capture.

Any questions, comments or observations are welcomed.

Following the destruction of 6th Army at Stalingrad and the German counter offensive on the southern wing of the Eastern Front in early 1943, both sides were in dire need of an operational pause. This arrived in the form of the spring thaw and the poor ground conditions it created.
During this time both sides looked for an opportunity to regain the initiative. The Germans saw an opportunity with the Kursk salient. The salient, between Orel and Belgorod, jutted westwards for some eighty miles. The Germans planned to cut the base of the salient with a pincer movement. From the north, a heavily reinforced 9th Army would attack from Orel through Ponyri towards Kursk. In the south the 4th Panzer Army would attack from the southwest of Belgorod through Oboyan and link up with the northern pincer at Kursk.

There were no T-34/85s at Kursk.  They had not yet been prototyped, let alone deployed.

Then again, our version of the Panther is also too late for Kursk.

Panthers were rushed into service at Kursk so we will call the Panther G a sub for that Panther, and we will fudge a little by using the T-34/85 as a more effective counter to both the Tiger and Panther.

Good points.  With the concessions that we have to make with the availability of historical representatives, I guess that presenting a somewhat level "playing" ground is the reason for the choices.  Maybe we should ammend the Message to denote they are replacements for the actual historical units.  And just read Jimson's reply during my attempt to post, and it seems that I was correct.

I believe the Su 85 tank destroyer entered service at around the time of Kursk, although I'm not sure if there were any actually involved in the battle. That's pretty much a T-34/85 but without the turret.

The soviets should of had the C model if I remember correctly by then. The G model we have was produced at about the time of Kursk, doubt the Russians got them that quick though.  But the G could be a sub for the C. Same as using the Panther G as a sub for the D model that was at Kursk.  I haven't found any info of A20 units being used at Kursk, but that doesn't mean they weren't there.

 :furious Okay, VACATION IS OVER!!

Lap up the last of that warm grub, and kiss that buxom beauty good bye.  Grab some cigars or vodka from the grateful farmers and head back to your units.

As soon as you get the lids closed on those tin cans of yours, you should be seeing some pretty intense action NNW of the Headquaters.

SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?  :furious
