Add the P-61A, Mosquito NF.Mk 30, Ju88G-7, and J1N1-S, give all of them a local personal radar, maybe a 10 mile radius or so.  Could be fun flavor aircraft.

Especially in the AvA where it actually turns night (although for only a few minutes).

Alright, I've gotta say it, because you guys are driving me fricken' NUTS with it.

It's P-61 Black Widow. NOT Widowmaker.

Thank you....it was driving me crazy too.  :x

I think that there could be a use for the P-61 in game as a mobile radar platform.  I'm not sure how much coding it would take, but we already have movable radar on the CV's.

However it should differ from CV dar in the following ways:

P-61 radar should be able to toggle on and off.

The enemy inside the P-61 radar ring should only be visible to friendly aircraft inside the ring.

I think that the P-61 should show up to the other 2 countries on the clipboard map when its radar is switched on (regardless of whether its inside a dar ring or not)

These features would offer incentive to use the aircraft as well as a way for keen map watchers to track down the P-61 assisted raids.

You need to read a little about the P-61 & it's radar ability's. What your asking for is an AWACS aircraft/stealth. This was not possible back then with a P-61 & would not even be remotely close to being historically accurate.

To add to this, airborn radar range was about the same as in game icon range in the MA, in front of the plane.

Not exactly what I'm wishing for.  Although after more thought today I think a 30 degree arc of radar would be more appropriate than a full dar circle.  (and as for historical accuracy, we don't have that now with the ability to see aircraft entering the radar ring from inside our cockpits)

Forget that the aircraft had radar in real life & just use the clipboard on it as we do with all other aircraft. This alone was far more than the P-61 was ever capable of.

And a lot of fighters were built for long range escort but were switched to air to ground attack roles.
P-61 flew cap as well on long range escorts.

If we were to get the P-61 they may want to add a few more minutes. Now that I have found the documentation I have been looking for about the night vision binoculars they used.

I like this story for any of you had doubts about the P-61 in a air to air situation.

Guys, check this training footage out for the P-61 Black Widow!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lo-f2x8T7d8&feature=related

I'd say that this ride would be an awesome addition, but obviously a high perk plane. Make the Radar a component that can be damaged in combat, and/or require a passanger aboard to make it functional. Maybe design an in-aircraft radar system to keep it from being too powerful. For instance, instead of the radar showing up on the clipboard map, it shows up on an instrument panel and does not specify friendly over foe, etc. Just an idea.

Flat out...I want one! So how do we start a bar room broiler about getting one? I don't know that we can pound on the table and chant but something. This bad boy witnesses combat and flys better then a Jug, likely turns better then a -51 as well. This means it will also outturn all 190s. Yada, yada, yada...should we start another thread and allow people to cast votes. As soon as we hit 250 we threaten a sit-in of AHs offices in Grapevine?

Just thinking out loud.

Discussions regarding the radar and night fighting issues aside, I think the armament and sighting system would make it very interesting. Two skilled people could be quite a handful in it! Besides it's an interesting design and something different. Why not eventually?
