England retain the Ashes
« on: December 28, 2010, 07:53:29 PM »
Awesome Job by the English Cricket Team - retaining the Ashes in Australia (took us 24 years to do mind)

Great team effort, bowled out Australia nice and early (all out for 98), ran up a score over 500, then bowled Australia out again to win by an innings and runs  :D

Apologies to my antipodean friends - just makes a change for English cricket to actually play well and win something.

It's all unrealistic crap requested by people who want pie in the sky actions performed without an understanding of how things work and who can't grasp reality.

watched the highlights last night but I guess they finished them off.

Is a bit odd watching Aussies getting beat down hard on their own turf.     :neener:

It will be nice to finish it off with a win in the last test. I was jumping up and down when Pietersen caught Siddle! Happy days! :lol

australia beat england in england for the first time ever in ?1882. the Times ran an obituary saying that english cricket was dead and the aussies had cremated its body and taken it home to australia. next year we played in australia and won, somebody burnt one the bales from one of the matches, put the ashes in a little urn and presented it to the english team.

this is what we play for (and yes that is the actual size ):

the ashes is basically a grudge match which has been running for 130 years :D

In fact the Ashes never actually leave Lords, if Australia win a replica goes with them.

they take home replicas of ashes in a cup?

couldn't you just scoop some out of a fireplace or out of a barristers wig and send them home with real ones?

:D
