Since im studying anthropology I found this to be rather interesting. Without the IN part.

Obviously, this is a bad attempt at humor.    

Slavery was a dieing entity.  All one has to do is look at the long line of events from pre-1776 to 1850-ish and see how little by little slavery was going to die.  It was only a matter of time and the bulk of the South knew that.  They just wanted to do it on their own whim, not by the stroke of a pen by someone not "of" them.
