GeForce 3 aint on the streets yet.

All the places advertising them are just selling pre-orders, e.g. you pay now, we send it when we get it.

Actually, they are in stores now.
They are pretty darned good cards, not just an upgraded Geforce2.

FSAA should be beautiful and fast on it.

Does GF3 require AGP Pro Slot or a normal AGP x4 is enough?

I've never heard of an "AGP Pro" slot.  If such a thing exists or is planned, it's not on current mainboards and would certainly be backwards compatible.

GeForce 3 works in a standard AGP slot of whatever specification you have.  I'm sure it will work just fine in an AGP 1x slot.  It does take advantage of AGP 4x though, possibly sidebanding as well.  I'd have to check.

ÀGP pro appears on various P4 motherboards.

It is not backward compatible, for example Voodoo 3 boards will not work in a AGP Pro equipped motherboard.

As far as I am aware Geforce 3 uses the same voltage as AGP pro, so there should be no problem.

All the current ASUS CUSL2 motherboards have an AGP-Pro slot on them.

The slot is backward compatible with non-AGP Pro video cards.

Lephturn, almost all Asus MBs come with Agp pro slots.  The difference is additional pins for power.

The question is still there. Does GF3 need AGP-Pro?

Yo Man,
No agp-pro slot required  Any agp slot will be ok for gts3's

As stated above the pro slots have been around a while now, Extra bit in length to accomodate more power connects

On an agp-pro slot you will see mainly a bit of plastic/plastic tape/or other device to cover extra pins thus allowing standard agp cards (pro is not the main design as such at the moment as makers are still churning out agp cards as we know them to look at now)

Asus A7v's and alike have pro slots, I assume since last yr all makes have agp-pro then again .....who knows

Hope this clears it up

Well, that's a new one on me.

As I guessed, it is backwards compatible.  By that I mean an AGP Pro slot will handle regular AGP boards.

Ya learn something new every day.  That was my thing for today.    Thanks guys.
