Alaska shows on TV
« on: December 30, 2010, 07:05:36 PM »
Have enjoyed watching the Palin series on Alaska even though it's a bit like the Palin Summer Vacation. Interesting to see some of the fun things to do there. Some day in about ten to thirteen years I plan to retire, sell the house, buy a class A dp, toad and hit the road. One thing I'd like to do is drive to Alaska for the summer.

Have not watched the Gold Rush show but am a little tired of like the logging, swamp etc type programs.

There is also supposed to be a show coming out on Discovery about a small airline or charter service in Alaska. Will give it a shot.

I watched the 'premier' of Gold Rush. Whadda bunch of pansies  :devil

I saw the commercial for the airline one myself, looks "legit", as the hip kids say these days.

If you ever do decide to drive to Alaska, definitely visit Palmer! One of the most beautiful places to live on the planet. Don't rush up here though, take the time to enjoy the scenery of wherever you visit along the way.

It'll be a blast

i'm stationed in Alaska, there really isnt much to do here, at least in the winter, there is a ski hill and snowboarding slope but sometimes its way to cold to go up there.

You're too far north is the problem. Nothin' much up there but trees, tundra, and the occasional mountain.  :P

Lived in Palmer from '82 through '89 just east of Palmer High School. Lived in Alaska 14 years altogether. Great place to visit, but way too expensive to live there. Still, I reminisce about my younger years when I look it up on Google Earth and see our old house.

I love the Alaska shows but they make my family and I all home sick. I doing everything I can to get the Army to send me back up there so I can retire. We loved Fairbanks.

Highland Subdivision, corner of Montgomery & Edinborough just off Arctic Avenue, three story tri-level house with a glass door facing north (go figure since the high winds slam into it & make firewood fly across the back porch. ). Was a damn cold walk to school in the winter in the late 80's. 70mph gusts at times. No more, thank you.

I could probably find it. In the summer though, aha.

We were getting up to 87 gusts several weeks ago. That was... fun  :D
