Spirit of the game
« on: January 02, 2011, 02:24:37 PM »
Occasionaly, my daughter signs on on my account and flys.  She has done very well so far with this game.  She's flown FSX before so flight dynamics are not new to her, however, she refuses to fly back to base as long as she has ammo and fuel.  She is 10yrs old, and I think she has a better approach to the game as I do.  She doesn't care about score, whether she lands kills, or gets her name in lights.  She was flying today and was missing parts, had 4 kills, and when I told her she should go back she said I have bullets and gas so why should I?  It hit me for a second.  Should I stay in a fight if injured if I have fuel and ammo to burn?  Why would she stay in a fight that would obviously hinder her in future engagements.  What I have come up with is this.  Some jplay the game as it is, A GAME.  That is her view of things.  Then I think of all the recent threads of this is too easy or to hard, and I'm reminded of, THIS IS JUST A GAME.  I have learned from a 10 yr old today.  She sees it as a game and doesn't care, so why should I?  Why should any of us?

I let my 8yo son fly when he wants, he too helps me to keep the correct perspective on things.   ;)

lol more importantly do u have any names to drop of the people who are getting shot down by a 10 year old girl? :x

No offense intended, it is just funny to imagine some man getting po'd saying "wow who was that guy?" and on the other end of the monitor some little girl saying "weee, ok ima go play with my barbies now"

Just be carefull having the young ones playing.  There are a few on this game, that would send inappropriate PM's (I believe these people should be banned immediately, but that's a different thread).  Hate to see your daughter run across that.  Other then that have fun is the reason for playing a game. :aok

Thats great that your kids are playing. I will add that 200 has become a cesspool of bad language, sexual comments, etc. No longer something your kids should be reading.. I have only been playing almost two years and have seen the change in the antics on 200.. PM's are even worse..  :salute

I agree with Big Rat, they should be banned when caught doing it....

I have a hard time turning back regardless of damage to the plain, except for when I'm pilot wounded.  I love gliding deadstick back to base and juuuust making it.  Such a nice feeling.

Also, I think it's really outstanding that your 10 year old daughter can get 4 kills in one hop!

I think kids are better at this stuff than adults. They grow up nowadays playing video games.. My 14 year old daughter played with me for a few hours one night. She was a natural in a tank.. Makes sense I guess considering that she was playing Nintendo and using a PC  at the age of 2..

My daughter is definately my daughter, tries to fly here and fails repeatedly.

Mind you she wants to be a veterinarian not a fighter pilot so who cares. :aok

I literally never go into a fight expecting to survive (on AH not RL lol) - because I suck - and for that reason I stay until I am can no longer fight. I chased some planes with a PW until my pilot eventually died. :)

It's sad...she's 10...and she does better than me :P  :aok

Unfortunately, some may never understand.

<S> To your daughter. I think I'll start flying with the same mentality.
