Agree with the paintjob Daff.  For the rearview, just lean forward, the world becomes clear!

First thing I do with um is customize my views, and poof, 6 view fixed.  I seem to like look over my right shoulder for 6 view.

Daff, the P-47D speed and climb seem to be on the numbers. And it doesn't have the weight of 14 .50's, that's just a text bug.

I thought the underwing pylons were fixed, but that the shackles were removed and a fairing put on the pylon when no load was carried.

I agree the cockpit layout is annoying though, you can't see the VSI for one thing.
As for the 6 view: if you move the view all the way back, it looks just like in WarBirds.

paint job ... ouch... pls.... beging for changing it (but never eard HTC willing to change a plane paint job). Don't get me wrong, the current paint job have been remarkably reproduced, great work, but i would love to see something without the stripe extending pass the cowling.

Instruments: Yes it's tought especially because u can't see the VSI. I believe it's because they can't 'make our head go more to the back of the cockpit'... oh well, I care way less than the paint job

rear views, with HTC greta idea of being able to move head around and save the positions, not a factor.

Performances: I don't know, never flew one. A WW2 pilot (From Harrison B. Tordoff, P-47 pilot, 353rd Fighter Group.): It was heavy and looked cumbersome but in the hands of agood pilot, it could turn and climb with an Me 109 or an FW190 ... And that's exactly what I intend to do

As long as it dives better than anything else and still find a way somehow to turn more than a flying cow, awsome, I buy it.

Oh and... HT? where can I find the "Bride" link? I may 'invest in a paintjob'

Anyone have any numbers on the -30? I have solid numbers for the -25 but didn't know if they had the same engine or not.

Pylons, that was the word   (Shouldnt post at 5 am :P)...I got several pictures of Gabreski's P-47D-25 both with and without pylons. (And the D-25 came with them mounted from the factory).
The P-47 will never straight outclimb the 109 and 190, unless you go into a highspeed climb (keeping climbspeed above 250). It will probably by far be the worst climbing plane in AH. It *should* be able to use a combination of climb and zooms to get on top of the 190 (According to every single pilot report I've read), but I somehow doubt that this will be the case .
Pilot Armor: Again, compare the P-51 and the P-47...they had very similar type pilot armor, but yet it's hardly there on the P-51.
Sure..keep the current armor on the P-47, but add one to the P-51.
Also, while I'm at it
It should have 150 gallon drop tanks, not 75. The 75 gallon was mainly used in '43 and were UK made tanks.
According to AHT, the P-47D-30 has the same engine as the P-47D-25,(P&W-R2800-59), but got 300 more HP..I suspect it's a mix up of designations...I thought it had the P&W-61, but AHT got that down on the XP-47J (Which used a Chrysler engine!).
I'll dig around some more.
If it got 2600hp at WEP (2300hp normal), it should climb a fair bit better than the numbers in AHT.

Ok, I'm somewhat confused now
The P&W-R2800-61 did go in the XP47J..it was the XP-47H with the Chrysler engine.
But..AHT gives a MAP of 64" at WEP (2600hp) whereas previous versions of the P&W with water injection used 58" for 2300HP (According to the pilots manual), and the AH D-30 does show 64" with WEP on.
So...The performance should be a fair bit better than does quoted in AHT (Which the AH 47 does match pretty well).

Daff,

The first time I climbed into the Jug I thought Oh my God! with respect to the armor.  But with the adjustable views, I can see out of it as well as out of the Mustang.

One other thing though, (I can't believe I'm bringing it up)  But the Jug, at least for me, seems to handle to well.  It sure seems to me to handle better than the Mustang at all altitudes (well at least up to 33k, I haven't flown either above that in here)

I sure seems to be able to go over the top at slower speed than the Mustang and it seems to have a better sustained turn.  Now I don't have any numbers just what I feel.  Maybe it's just that it accelerates better so I can manuver sooner without having to wait for speed to build as in the Mustang.

Thanks HTC for my Jug!!!

Gotta agree with my Skipper though, the paintjob is obscure and the 6 view is absolutely horrid. It seems like a 5 yr old was placed in the seat. Jug pilots were seated higher than that. I know the views are adjustable but this one is absurd. Gonna have to fiddle with it some. The FM seems very good, climb and acceleration seem about right and the turn while C47 like, still beats the turn rate of the Brand W Jug. All in all I'll take it...anyway I can get it.

Pyro, et al...please reexamine the 6 view though...that one really is baffling.

Thanks again, glad to see you caved in to the threat of armed supermodels storming your offices..<g>

Well, after a couple of hours in the arena, I think it behaves pretty much exactly like the WB one...My bet is that they used the same data-set

a another pilto and I did a few comparisons today between the jug and 190a5. we started off from coalt and cospeed (10K, 175 IAS) and went into auto climb where the 190 easily coould pass the jug. But at 17K the jug started to pull away., we then went to wep and the jug was D3.0 by the time we got to 30K, pulling away at a fast rate. The AH jug is at home at high alt. Now against the G10 thios will be a different story. I then put the jug in a steep dive and to my amazement, it was compressed at 500MPH and I couldn't trim it out.The wings came off at 600MPH. I augered at a very extreme speed. The 190  followed and his AC was locked up in compression at the same speed.  Now wasn't the 47 known for its ability to dive like that and still remain controllable?

Yes it was according to people who flew it. They may have changed something when I tried it offline the day it was released wings ripped after 700 TAS, 625 IAS.

Anyone knows the proper way to request a new paint job to HTC?

Well, with the adjustable view system, that's really a non-issue. I was able to configure my six view in the jug so that it looks like the rear view of the Dora in WB

Or course, if you don't adjust yer views, it looks like you have your nose pressed up against the armor plate.

Nope. It could accelerate very quickly in a dive, but it's critical Mach number was comparitively low. On later P-47's dive flaps were added to allowed the pilot to pull out of dives at a higher speed. The P-47D-30 in AH has them, and using them does help alot.
