Saitek x36 question
« on: July 09, 2001, 12:27:00 PM »
My friend is letting me borrow a Saitek x36 setup for a few weeks. Its the older version (non usb). First of all, there is no place to plug it in to my comp! my other stick is usb. i dont have a sound card or a game card. (sound is part of mobo). i think thats the problem, if thats the case i can probably go pick up a game card for pretty cheap.
Next is i have no drivers or software for it. I know i can dl the drivers, but does that usaly come with all the software needed to program it?
TIA
The journey is the destination.

OK my advice dont waste your time trying.
The earlier analogue X36's had many problems after suffering with one for about 1.5 years it was a relief to swap to the USB version.
Drivers if you do bother are complete, nothing else needed other than time and patience programming it.

Don't even mess with the analog setup :(

It will be very frustrating,VERY!!!  You will get more  enjoyment by hitting your thumb with a hammer then programning the stick :(  But if you must.....
combo views like up forward look like this 5: 8: and you have to change them to 5 + 8: to get them to work.  Also see if you can find Digital asprin somewhere as you will need it!! There's a section on the BBS at Saitekhelp.com for some reading before you begin to mess up your puter with this stick.

To bad you don't have the use of a USB X36.  The USB version was what the analog version was supossed to be.  The analog version is a DOG,BIG TIME!!!

I used the analog(s) since they first came out, and while a great ride....they do have issues.  Not the least of which is stickey keys, spiking pots (when they get older), and a real pain on faster systems.  I loved them as best I could...but the USB version is far and away better  :D   :D   :D
