Hello I have posted and seen other posts in the tech support section but have seen no real answers.

I am using the same system I did a year or so ago when I had to leave AH, the only thing that has changed on the system is the vid card, upgraded. AH runs great with near a constant 60 fps online in the arena, this is running in default settings the only thing I did was to set up my CH yoke and peddles. If at any time I hit the vox key AH freezes my entire system and it then requires a hard reboot. I tried several of the suggestions from the other threads in tech support section with no positive results, these include removing all the windows unneeded background services, spaceball 5000, ect..

As I said this seems to be not only isolated to me and a fairly recent problem but I would like to use my vox.

Custom sounds? Using Onboard sound by any chance? Do you use a transmit key on yoke?  Same thing if activated on a controller or keyboard?
Most likely need to see the top 1/3rd-ish of your DxDiag if available.

No custom sounds. Yes I was using onboard sound, sound max on a Asus motherboard, screwed the driver while trying to fix it and have not reinstalled it though But I am getting sound from my usb headphones, not sure whats going on there but it had no effect on the vox issue. And yes I tried re mapping it to the yoke and is still locked up, back to default key now.

the above is the DxDiag from befor I screwed with the sound drivers, they are the sound max ones, I can post the newer one if you need it when I get home tonight. Also here is the link to the thread where I posted more of this DxDiag info.

From a technically ignorant viewpoint, mine, seeing there is a problem with sound and sound drivers are suspected not to be installed correctly, I'd sure try to get sound drivers installed correctly and see what happens.

A squady of are's is having the exact same issue with no way of fixing it yet.  We even tried a new sound card, reloaded the computer, reinstalled the game, etc..  He can hear us all fine, but as soon as he pressing the transmit key (does it for both Range and chn).  He is using a Creative labs X-FI soundcard. It started when the new major release came out, V2.22.

a few things I have noticed is :
1st: your pagefile is over 500mb's on a WinXP system....... anything above 200 mb's and problems start happening...... how many processes you got running??? I would think you are in the 65 to 85 processes or maybe even more.....

2nd: you are using a USB headset for your mic and sound.... USB takes more cpu er more power.... can be creating the problem......

3rd: you have "2" sound devices loaded up... they could possibly be creating a Hardware conflict or an IO address conflict or IRQ etc........ depending on how they are set up or if on the same bus....

4th: for your processes ( your Extremely large pagefile of 500+ mb's with WinXP ) along with your very High Monitor Screen Resolution of "1920 x 1080 (32 bit) (60Hz)" along with you using an USB sound device at the same time of having a 2nd sound device loaded up could be causing the problem..

5th: It is better if you can find the correct drivers ( .inf file ) for your monitor verses using the generic MS plug n Play monitor driver , this is even more true when you are not running at the monitor's native resolution

6th: you might also try sliding the HW Accleration from Standard down to Basic for the Sound Devices.....

these are just several things I see that could be causing you, your mic / Vox Lock-up problem.......




Now, the Extremely Large pagefile and the "2" sound devices possibly conflicting I would think is where your problem is being generated, though

That is one thing that has changed I was messing with the sound max early on and ended up having to uninstall it (witch had no effect on the issue) Now I am just running the headset...

I have searched but have not been able to find specific drivers for my monitor

The page file size was the problem, Thanks for the advice now I just need life to get out of the way so I can get some flight time in hehe

I have the same problem, i can't use vox without "freezing" my pc, sometimes it starts "working" again sometimes i have to reboot. Anyway, i have been reading all the posts and especially the one of TequilaChaser got my attention. I looked at my DxDiag,and there i saw  that my Page File is: used 514 MB available 1948MB.Should i change the page size? And if yes...how do you do it? I am less than a noob when it comes to pc, i really need ( if possible and if someone wants/can) a step by step info.

The large size indicates other processes gobbling up memory you want for Aces High. Don't really need to change page file size but reduce the number of processes running in background, that will reduce the page file size.

I page file of about 570 on windows xp is not too large.  and getting it down to 200 is way too extreme for somebody who doesnt have technical expertise.  you are talking about disabling all kinds of processes that new guys need or rely on in case of problems.  is kindda like suggesting having only 18 processes, is doable but you really have to now what you are doing and most of us mortals dont have that expertise and even if we can get it to 18 once a problem pops up then we are up the creek, because all the help processes are disabled.  he's having a problem with installing sound drivers and if he stops those help processes then for sure he wont be able to fix anything.

he has an older computer with only 2k of ram and a slow graphics card.  he most likely has a conflict with his two sound drivers and that's what is causing his freezes.  also the game was updated in the past year requiring a little more power on the computers.  try lowering the "eye candy" within the game. but first get those sound drivers updated/fixed that is most likely your problem.

one last thing, there's a lot of us with better computers (no offense intended) that are having problems with vox.  I got disco'd 10 times out of my first 49 flights in buffs.  all I would hear is somebody talking on vox and freeze and bye-bye.  so you are not alone.
