9mm vs 7.62?  Pfft....I will take the distance, muzzle velocity, durability, knock-down and range of the AK any day over a machine pistol that fires subsonic rounds.  Unless of course this was the 8mm variety, I get them confused, in which the AK is much more accurate

i ment by its radical design than actual performance. the mp44 being the first ever assault rifle. and it also being the granddaddy to the ak.

lol, the russians also said the thompson was a pointless machine gun. pretty much shows how much they knew.

The air war was different in the East than it was on the West and that's what the Soviets based their needs on and they were correct.  In their air war, the P-47 and P-51 wouldn't be effective for the type of fighting that was required.  Kind of shows you how much you know.

The MP-44 didn't fire subsonic 9mm rounds. It fired 7.92mm bullets at 690m/s

'all they could come up with was the AK~47'       probably the best assault rifle ever made.       and I completly agree with the Russian take on the 47 typical American .   besides the fact its one of the ugliest WW2 birds ever made,  I will give it credit in the ability in taking damage and bringing pilots safely home, and being fast enough to run away....err I mean egress to friendlies.    seriously  why would they even consider when they had the Yak's and LA's  which are far beyond the 47's,  The LA~7 one of the Best fighters of the war, if not the Best. And a very beautifull bird to boot. Of course this is just my opinion and we all now about those....besides im in the mood for some fishin.........:-)
I give it a 3 out of 10.
Would have scored higher but you gave away your bait.

Yes....I must have been typing my edit when you guys typed your posts.  Traditionally the 8mm German rounds of which the 7.92 falls aren't nearly as accurate or have the same range.  2296ft/s for the 8mm is sig lower than the AK's 2980 ft/s thus reducing range and accuracy downrange.  My preference would be the 7.62, specifically the NATO 7.62

I guess if we're hijacking, The 8mm is way heavier than the 7.62x39 and is a full power battle rifle round. It would have way more knockdown power at range and is a completely differnt animal than the AK round. If your talking about the shortened 8mm the MP44 fired, it is an intermediate round like the 'x39. The MP44 is on the dust heap of history, the AK isn't.
