Serenity~the SKS was chinese made, it would jam if I pulled trigger as fast as I could, coulda been the cheaper ammo though, now we are going back a ways, this was about 14 years ago, the AK's I friggin cant remember who made em, I do know they were not true russian AK's, mac90's come to mind, they are the exact same thing as AK's, as far as I know, just not made in Russia, 7.62 same as the SKS, IM Not really big into guns, im more of a sword and Battle Axe kinda guy :-) I got a sick bat winged battle axe,  carbon steel, thing will go through a car door, or whatever else you so desired hehe

Depends on the fun I was looking for...

For IPSC and IDPA shooting it was a custom Colt 1911 chambered for .38 Supers. Complete with mag funnel, red dot, 20 round mags when legal and a light trigger. The barrel was ported and had a stiff spring for ultra fast cycle with hot ammo. This gun was borrowed and I even got a chance to try the speed draw holster. The few tries I did get were in the 9 second range for an El Presidente. Thats a draw, two shots each at four targets, reload, two shots each, reload, and two more shots at four targets.

My personal gun was a .40 Glock 24C, fully compensated with my own hot loaded ammo for good muzzle control. Was pushing 9 grains of Accurate 7 behind a 140 grain hollow point. The case was absolutely filled to capacity, and prevented a double charge as I was only 14-16 at the time.

For long range shooting its a Remington Sendero with factory barrel and mil dot Night Force 5-22.5 variable scope. The gun was optimized for accuracy and had some of the best hand loads in the country. I could describe the process behind the ammo work up but its a small novel. The ammo itself was full hunting load, 200 grain Accubond pushed 3200 FPS by nearly 100 grains of Varget. The best part, it weighed 13 pounds with a Harris BiPod attached and did not need a benchrest. In fact I personally watched deer taken just shy of 1300 yards, across a valley from a card table. In high winds (15 mph cross) I shot a 3/8ths inch  group at 300 yards with a rear sand bag and the bipod.

At one point this gun shot twenty four, yes 24, 4" clay pigeons at 700 yards in a row!!!!

I am in the delivery room  for my second boy and all is quiet for now but I better get going!

We have a winner.

Heck, we had an F-4 jock use that one just by switching the Master Arm switch off safe....two days in a row!...
at the end of the runway!  Those squirrels never knew what hit them  :D  First day, 1 second burst, 100 rounds.
Day 2, 125 rounds into the treeline.  They decided to put it down for MX after that.

Turns out it was a bad relay in the armament control panel, no idea how long the gun was hot because it was
normally pinned up.  They had planned to take it down to the range at Eglin for some strafing.

At least it wasn't an up-canted gun like the F-15...  Woulda lofted them quite some distance.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

I've got a Yugo SKS and I'm looking at getting an AK47 as a next gun. What type of SKS and AK did you use?

If you are looking at AKs do some real research.  There are a bunch of different types based on Yugo, Polish, Chinese, Egyptian, Bulgarian, East German parts kits and that's not all of them.  Then it's stamped recievers, or milled.

I'd suggest spending some time on the AK forum.  You can learn a lot.

My son was the AK nut and he started with a Romanian SAR1, then moved on to a Polish PKMS underfolder built by In Range.  He also had an AK103, and a Krebs Custom AK74

He was in the same boat.  Money.  Started with the cheap one, but ended up saving his pennies for the Krebs, which was his nicest AK.  I have 3 AK kits that I hope to have built in time as my younger son grows up.  Two are Polish underfolder kits and the other is a Bulgarian AK74 kit.

the MA Deuce is my baby girl.

Along with the 240 Bravo (and Golf)

The 249 sucks

The M16 rocks until it gets dust on it, then it jams

M4 sucks

M1 Garand is one of (if not #1) my favorite weapons of all time. I would rather use it in Afghan than my M16.

M14 is nice.

The MK19 is fun as well...until it jams

203's can be fun to watch

And the minigun makes you feel like God.

The STG 44 was AMAZING to fire.
MP40 was OK
The Thompson was a lot of fun
K98 was epic as was the Mosin and Lee Enfield (bolt actions rock)

Black powder rifles are always a blast :P

Gah - so many! I'm lucky to have been able to experience all of these fine weapons....well...mostly fine weapons. (BOOO 249!) :D

Like, ya know, when that thing that makes you move, it has pistons and things, When your thingamajigy is providing power, you do not hear other peoples thingamajig when they are providing power.
