I thought I was done skinning 38s but when I learned of the Battle Over Germany scenario involving the 55th FG and realized they didn't have a single skin in-game for the aircraft they fly, figured I was in a position to try to do something about it.   Don't know if it'll make it into the game since the 38J slots are full, but I just couldn't sit on my hands and do nothing and I knew Skuzzy had gotten a couple 38 skins in for Der Grosse Schlag.  She's pretty close to done.




You know it might be cool to coordinate skinner's submissions, skin pack releases, and scenario dates to try to make sure we have historically-correct skins for scenarios.  I think it would add to the immersion factor for players and at the same time provide for more authentic screenshots from the scenario.  I'm doing this one in a rush with a faint outside hope of getting it in for the 55th guys.

Excellent work on that profile, oboe! :salute

One question though, was there an older nose art painted on the nose of that P38? I noticed that on the old picture, there looks to be some OD painting behind the skull.

You could be right about that!  I had thought it was whitewashed background of primer or something in prep for the artist to do the noseart, but it could very well be a bad paintjob covering up previous nose art.  We'd need somebody with a 55th FG history book I think to learn any more.

Finished her up and submitted last night, so fingers crossed that HTC will have a skin release before the scenario, AND be willing to do the extra work required to swap out an existing skin.   Would be great if the 55th guys could have their own skin.

the olive drab seems to be nicely colored (olive drab shading is the bane of my existence)

also looks like the detailing has been updated
