At least they didn't line up Newton in the dang shotgun and try to have him jump over the middle.
When they brought Newton back out I was like hell yeah lets go for it, but then he just kinda half tried to get it in, well hell anythings better then a loss so I'll take the push and my money back, but man that would have been sweet if he had just been able to have it cross the end zone before that knee came down, so close.

Having watched Oregon in the rosebowl last year.....and the game auburn played last year in the bowl series.

I expected a better game.  Not really impressed by either team <shrugs>

Congrats to both for making it this far!

Better game than I expected....suburbs defensive line dominated this game all night and Oregon just couldn't figure it out.

I was a bit let down by this game as well, neither team showed up.

Although, I suppose that's how it looks when two evenly matched teams play each other.  I was pretty amazed at how many turnovers there were...  Pretty sloppy play for #1 and #2...

Yeah the number of turnovers were a bit surprising, I think in the 1st quarter alone there were 3 int thrown.  Everyone was expecting this game to be a battle of offensive lines, but when it was game time it was an all defensive game.

That's because #1 already played and won in Pasadena. :neener:

Playing a Whiny 10 team and squeaking by doesn't count for being the best team in the nation...you gotta beat some real opponents to get that ranking.

Let down by what exactly?  Oregon finally playing a team with solid defense?  :rofl

I didn't understand any of it except for the commercials and the cheerleaders.

No, neither offense showed up.  I expected Oregon's run game to be ruined by Auburn, but I expected the game to be high scoring, or at least higher than 22 and 19...

It was a fairly boring game up until the end.

The offenses were playing fine. The defense was outstanding in that game.

I don't disagree that the defense was outstanding, but the number of times that quarterbacks were throwing into double or triple coverage (or directly at a defender) was pretty staggering for #1 and #2 teams.  No one seemed settled, not that I blame em.  Playing in the national championship game would be incredibly stressful, the dropped kick return right at the beginning of the game was a pretty good show of that.

This was probably one of the most evenly matched games I've seen in a long time, though.
