Auburn hadn't won a National Title in over 50 years and Oregon never has before. You can imagine the stresses involved. It doesn't surprise me that they were making the bad choices. If the only possibility for a reception equalling yardage is someone in triple coverage, you're going to take it: take a chance.

So... right, the offenses didn't play well.

What?  No, you don't risk throwing the ball to triple coverage for a few yards, there is a HUGE risk for a turnover.  If you have no options, you either tuck and run, or you throw it away.
I'm Sector95 in-game! :-D

Yeah I don't care how long it's been since you've won a national title, you don't go making poor play making decisions like throwing into triple coverage, like SectorNine50 said, you tuck & run, or throw it away, otherwise your throwing the game away, literally, the only possible reason you might start trying things like that is if your down to the last few minutes of the game and you need big plays to win it.
