"DxDiag Previously: Crashed in system information (stage 4). Re-running DxDiag with "dontskip" command line parameter or choosing not to bypass information gathering when prompted might result in DxDiag successfully obtaining this information."

Why is DXDIAG crashing at stage 4?

If DXDIAG is crashing, you have no hope of getting the game to run stable.

You need to fix whatever is causing DXDIAG to crash.

I am sorry, but I cannot touch your computer.

DXDIAG failures are usually associated with bad drivers, possibly bad hardware, or possibly hardware conflicts.

Would make sense as most people make the mistake of trying to use the builtin sound driver for WIndows 7, as opposed to loading the native sound card drivers.

do the below at your own risk

but I would suggest to go to the Windows 7 Start Button

  • click on control Panel
  • click on system (if you do not see system, change the view from category to icons)
  • click on advanced system settings in uper left corner
  • click on the hardware tab next
  • click on Device Installation settings
  • click on Yes, Recommended
  • click on Save Changes
  • click on Apply when it reverts back to the system properties window
  • exit back to the desktop, restart if you are asked to (probably will not have to though)

this will make windows 7 search for the correct up to date drivers for any components you have on your Computer, and will be located in the optional updates section of your windows update (regardless if you update only manually, or if you leave updates turned on automatically)

and will make sure you are using the correct drivers instead of windows 7 microsft generic drivers
