Skin Repainting?
« on: January 13, 2011, 07:39:02 PM »
Was just wondering if it's possible for me to do my own repaints for airplanes? I have a bit of experience with it (ex. done it for other Flight Sims) but not sure how to get a blank skin, or an editable version/program that will let me do it?

Krusty wrote up a pretty good tutorial on how to paint skins, you can find it HERE Custom skins can be used OFF-LINE only. For a skin to be used ON-LINE it has to be an Historic skin flown in squadron strength, AND approved by HTC.

In short: You don't get "blanks" like in IL2. IMO that's the wrong thing to do because it's already flattened out. You need to work in layers and build your own areas to fill, detail, paint, etc. It's like making your own blank, but on  layers, and without destroying the original underlying layer.
