Anytime I hear the term "ditching" used with aircraft, I think of a water landing. landing next to the runway should be "landing next to the runway"
its a game and HTC needed to draw a line somewhere. That was landing on anything concrete. It would need no skill to just land anywhere within the base's radius. ditching is anything that is not landing successfully (even in WWII) and that the aircraft is somewhat/completely salvagable in friendly territory.

Ditch across the deck with no fuel ONLY (without no damages) could be an exception.

I could get down from the cockpit, take a bit of fuel and use it to park the heavy thing.

I'm not complaining about the rule. Like you said "its a game" . It's really just a matter of semantics. The first time I landed, I wasn't lined up perfectly and came in a little hot. I was trying to bleed off speed, but wasn't able to as fast as I wanted. I was too lazy to go around, but I managed bring her down sfely albeit a little hard. I was suprised when I saw that i had "ditched". That's when I assumed not making the runway properly might not be a plus. Personally, I think you should be accredited with a good landing if the wheels are down and you dont hit anything once on the ground. That's just an opinion..and they make the rules..which is fine by me.

WE ALREADY DO.............

can we get it changed so that if you ditch next to the runway you still get credit for your kills? Had 3 kills but was engine out and rolled off runway before i could get plane stoped so didnt get credit for them.

You're wishing for your name in lights......... Totally DIFF.

QFT...  Way after the end of the war, the NTSB & the FAA agreed to making the term ditch strictly related to a water landing, however this game we play is using the term correctly.

(even in WWII) and that the aircraft is somewhat/completely salvagable in friendly territory.

/hijack.             Saw a great video of a man landing an airplane without using any elevator or aileron input. He relied only on throttle, trim, and rudder. Morale is if it can be done with a real aircraft, it can be done here. Successful landing zones do not need to be expanded.

-1 our runways are big enough

The point is not how much they are big.

Situation:

2 kills and coming back at home low fuel but a con find you. He looses the fight and you reach your filed but
fuels is empty and you ditch landing INTO the field.

Result: ditched or good fight after all?
