For what it's worth, I think we shouldn't lose sight of the point of what made the exchange so offensive.  It was not harsh language, it was the out of left field personal racial slur.  I like disgusting offensive terms, and I don't use them online only out of consideration of people with kids who observe or fly with us.  Racial slurs demean everybody, so keep them to yourselves please.
