First Aid Kit for PW...

Not sure how it is programmed now, but it seems that if you receive a PW, you eventually bleed out on those long flights home.

Thought I would throw this out there and get some feedback from the community...

Suggestion (wish list)...

Create an option in the hanger that prior to lift off, you can "buy" a first aid kit that will be deducted from your points in whatever mode you are in.

If in attack or fighter mode, deduct from fighter points.
If in bomber mode, deduct from bomber points, etc...

If you receive a PW, and you use the first aid kit, you lose the points.  If you get shot down and you purchased the first aid kit, you lose the points, etc...

Now, the first aid kit is only to stop the bleeding (technically, slow down the bleeding out process).  Lets say if you are bleeding out, and you use the kit, it only slows down the bleeding to allot for more time.  I recommend maybe doubling the time and maybe a little longer between blackouts.  But enough to give you a better chance at making it to a friendly field.

     Not sure how good a first aid kit would be for most wounds.  Remember the smallest round we're shooting is still 30 cal,
which makes a mess.  50 BMG or cannon rounds would be even worse.  Unless it's shrapnel, it's going to make a big hole.

All military personnel receive the standard first aid kit.  I believe that most planes have one attached somewhere in the cockpit.  The basic is the bandages to stop the bleeding and protect the wound.  To be able to get an expensive plane back home and provide care to the pilot.  Several individual stories come to mind.  One a Japanese pilot in the pacific in a Zeke made a several hundred mile trek home one time (will have to research it further).  He was a famous Japanese ace.  He received a PW and made it several hundred miles home.  I know there were others.

Specifically, I will have to research a bit further.  But I am sure that all planes would have had the minimum bandages to slow the process...  They all had fire extinguishers, I believe most first aid kits would have been nearby those...

I read somewhere in the past that most pilots who survived wounds were from richochets (the shrapnel from the HE rounds exploding) or from deris such as the metal around the cockpit and the glass from the canopy.  A hit from a 20mm or a .50 cal is a kill shot no matter what.  The body cannot sustain the trauma nor the loss of blood from a wound that big.  Even if you were lucky to survive the initial hit you would need immediate first aid that cannot be self administered to survie.  Now if a .303 or a 7.92 hit you and it wasnt in a vital area I think your chances of surviving were good.  I wish I could remember where I read that data at.  When I take a pilot wound I beat feet back to base as quick as I can.  I put the plane on auto pilot and fly as slow as I can to avoid a stall and as low as I can.  If I get t base I am low enough where I dont have to take a lot of time on approach.  If I am not able to make it back I can ditch easliy enough and at least that makes me feel somewhat good.

In the Fw 190 and Bf 109 the first aid kit was in the tail. I don't think there was anything for use in the cockpit. I can't really imagine trying to administer first aid to yourself and fly an airplane at the same time, though. I've never heard any stories about it, at least.

bandages and tourniques help, but people only survive rifle calibre wounds because they get to a surgeon in time.

if WWII pilots all had and used first aid kits, just assume our AH pilots are already using them.

this is a combat sim/game, not a medical sim.

this is actually a great idea,pilots were free to bring extras with them,like first aid,sandwichs,thermos,etc....and 1 round is only as good as where IT HITS YOU......a 25 cal round can kill you if hit in a vital area and a 37mm round can wound you if it say glances you or hits you only in the hand....see  hans ulrich rudel...hit by a 37mm round,survived,healled,continued to fly missions.

Even the smallest caliber weapons in this game would massacre your body if they didn't have to go through a significant amount of other material to get to it.
Rudel was not hit by a 37mm round, a 40mm round hit his aircraft and his leg had to be removed because it was rittled with shrapnel. If you're hit with an HE cannon round, you're not going to live to tell the tale.

How about when your pilot gets PWed when your in a buff the co-pilot takes over.

I've had many occasions where I lose 2 drones and a pw in my last plane, then limp home and blackout on final and crash

it would be sweet to see Pilot + Co pilot in the damage list of planes that qualify, sor of like an extra chance so to speak
