PWs are actually kinda rare, or atleast for me. the times i do get a PW i am able to get the aircraft home safetly and land it on the field.

Realllllllly depends on the aircraft.

I think blackouts are kind of silly if you ask me.  If I had any clout, I would go with a similar design as WWII Online's pilot wound system.  You get hit in the right arm, you lose stick strength.  You get hit in the leg, you lose leg strength.  Both arms, no stick control...  Well, you get the idea...

Not sure how it is programmed now, but it seems that if you receive a PW, you eventually bleed out on those long flights home.

Thought I would throw this out there and get some feedback from the community...

Suggestion (wish list)...

Create an option in the hanger that prior to lift off, you can "buy" a first aid kit that will be deducted from your points in whatever mode you are in.

If in attack or fighter mode, deduct from fighter points.
If in bomber mode, deduct from bomber points, etc...

If you receive a PW, and you use the first aid kit, you lose the points.  If you get shot down and you purchased the first aid kit, you lose the points, etc...

Now, the first aid kit is only to stop the bleeding (technically, slow down the bleeding out process).  Lets say if you are bleeding out, and you use the kit, it only slows down the bleeding to allot for more time.  I recommend maybe doubling the time and maybe a little longer between blackouts.  But enough to give you a better chance at making it to a friendly field.

I don't know of any USAAF fighter that had first aid kit readily available to the pilot in the cockpit.  I know there were first aid kits in their survival kits that were attached to their parachutes but those wouldn't really be accessible to the pilot while in flight.

Bomber crews, however did have medical supplies easily accessible if I remember correctly. Brings up another question, if you lose a gun in the bomber, is it because the gunner was shot, or the gun itself was shot to hell?

In the case of Wirbles, the turret smokes when you've killed the gunners in the top.  Or at least that's what I understand it's trying to imitate.  That is why you can turret Wirbles w/ basically any bullet type.  This would lead me to assume that bombers are the same way.

Would this be the same as a health power-up?

Perhaps elfin folk could help build the power-ups using the gold we dig out of the goblin caves  :bhead

TY Grumpy.

All military personnel receive the standard first aid kit.  I believe that most planes have one attached somewhere in the cockpit.  The basic is the bandages to stop the bleeding and protect the wound.  To be able to get an expensive plane back home and provide care to the pilot.  Several individual stories come to mind.  One a Japanese pilot in the pacific in a Zeke made a several hundred mile trek home one time (will have to research it further).  He was a famous Japanese ace.  He received a PW and made it several hundred miles home.  I know there were others.

Specifically, I will have to research a bit further.  But I am sure that all planes would have had the minimum bandages to slow the process...  They all had fire extinguishers, I believe most first aid kits would have been nearby those...

I know who you're talking about. He jabbed his fingers into his wounds to keep himself awake

so if the wirb has a gunner attached, you can kill the gunner (smoking the turret), then the driver can hop in the turret and carry on firing?
