To the AvA team...
« on: January 25, 2011, 10:12:48 PM »
I am a Fighter Ace refugee, and flew here in Aces High as FA was winding down.  As some of you may or may not know, I stopped all online gaming for several months for various reasons after FA shutdown, and finally subbed up here in Aces High in late December to give it a serious shot.

When I flew AH earlier last year I flew in AvA when I could, but it was 90% deserted.  Since I subbed up, I fly almost exclusively in AvA, and there is always between 8-40 folks in there.  The one time there was no one, I went in to practice tank driving, and within 30 minutes there were 6 other folks in there with me.

I say all this to let you guys know I am having a blast, specifically in the AvA rooms, and I think I'm here to stay.  In AvA, the comraderie is good, and many are willing to switch sides to make sure one doesn't get overpowering and it becomes very much not fun for the underdogs.  I love the different historical matchups, which is one of the reasons I fly WWII fighter planes anyway.  Now there will always be bad apples, but much less so than the short time I've spent in the MA and DA.

You guys have done a great job creating a fun environment to attract folks, and convinced me to keep my sub. Keep up the good work!
 :salute

Some might say it is an acquired taste  :D ( We have to find that Burger guy now = inside joke)  Fork gets it (sorry Fork, hope you weren't drinking again).

Really glad to hear that the time devoted by the volunteer admins is paying off.  The arena has stayed true to its roots, and improved immersion with the addition of no enemy icons, and challenges.  This speaks volumes for the original gang, that set the bar to this standard and for all those that are carrying the torch.  That includes you now Cheese.

Enjoy the bliss.  The storm is on the horizon.  USRanger has some works in progress that will help keep the numbers of new arrivals rising.

Yes there is much loyalty and dedication to the AvA and its growing popularity is a testament to the quality of players, plane sets and historically accurate set ups, along with great terrains, and no icon settings.

I for one thoroughly enjoy the caliber of pilot the arena draws. The majority are really nice guys that are fun to fly with and against.

The AvA staff has been very forward thinking and should be comended for the consistency in map size and settings that we have been seeing over the past months. seems as they are working as a team to grow the arena at this point.

They have done a great job channeling action in their set-ups..

Now pepole know were to find action. No more do we see oversized maps were when pepole join have no idea were the action is, then leave as a result..:aok

With the currant standards in the AvA, the setups seem hold pepole in the arena. IMO the AVA makes the most sense and is the best arena in AH

The ava has had w few basic challenges. For years they have been trying to figure out how to get the numbers up. The biggest problem was planeset. MA folks want to fly what they want to fly.

I have a confession to make.

There was a time when I was an AVA Staffer. It was fun and alot of work.

I had at least one set-up that was a crowd pleaser, and I was pretty close minded even so.

At that time we had several people wanting to become staff and I was hard wired to the "old ways" and saw no need for new blood.

Boy, was I wrong!

Jaeger, who I owe a huge apology to, Jimson, Shifty (love you long time...Shifty has been around since Jesus wore cowboy boots), and all the old staff..special shout out to Oldman..a class act anyway you look at it.  <<S>> all!

I like the AVA and where its going...the no icon thing?...Brilliant, simply brilliant.

cheers,

RTR
