If you want to get the numbers up stop ganging. Ganging just chases a potential person from wanting to come into the ava. Im not saying it has to be 1v1. If im the only one upping and there are 5 of you why would all 5 jump in? The jg54 used to do that and chased alot of folks away.

when there's ganging to be done, i'm usually on the recieving end.

at first i thought it was my pink flight bra, but upon landing one night, i saw what some of the sapp crewmen wrote on the back of my airplane. it cannot be repeated here, but suffice it to say, it drew those leather liederhosen loving germin pile-its to pile on my poooor pe-38.

I don't quite agree with the statement that a squad drove folks away.  I do recall, very "spirited" taunts on the forums, and The Skuzzinator doing a drive by on a fatboy and sawed off shotgun.

I don't believe we will ever go there again, the guys here now, whether or not they taunt in the game, are normally respectful and pushing for the best kind of experience that anyone could expect during competition.

One thing that might have slipped by you also in your short revisit, both enemy and friendly icons are limited.  By the time that you are committed to a fight you are not certain who is who.  The time I take pulling out of a 2 on 1 to avoid a 3 on 1, I often find someone on my six.  So, it might just be a survival method to keep your friendly icons in sight.  (Don't let me get started here).

i honestly have to say. once I'm engaged against 2 or more contacts i consider it a challenge for me to overcome :aok If i get out of it alive and hopefully with their carcasses behind me i know that my skills have improved. If i didn't, then i need to improve :aok

This Is the correct point of view in my opinion. This guy has balls ^, spirit, and a winners attitude... Crying about getting ganged is a weak excuse.

If you cant pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and see that you need to engage targets in a different way in the AvA, then its not for you. It doesn't mean it sucks.....

The AvA is for those that enjoy historic set-ups team work, communication, balanced plane sets, and above all, a fun challenge.

Don't wanna get ganged fly smarter.. Blame the dar dots that's the cause of the gaining problem..

The dar dots show people were you are so they kind of make you a magnet, unless your on the deck, hence most are on the deck. Problem is if the dar is off then a whole other set of people start crying  :cry with out the precious dar dots.
I'll tell you what, it the dar dots were off the no icon experience in the AvA would be much much more immersing than it is now. Were not there yet, not with the AH community anyway.

If I had it my way I would only show the dots in the tower only, but I don't. I take the arena as its served to me and enjoy it in spite of my personal preferences.

You cant please everyone, and the arena cant be all things to all people like I said before.
You ether like the AvA  or you don't.  Its your choice  to fly were you wish. Why complain about it :headscratch:

Fly smarter? if im the only one up flying smarter simply means avoiding the fight... So i can either get jumped because 6 souls wants to see who can kill the fastest or just avoid contact... sounds fun

Your exaggerating. You will get the hang of it ,if you can hang in there long enough. Others can hack it. With your skill, I know you can manage.

I deleted my last post as I was hoping this would run out of steam.

Why don't we all just consider the good points that were mentioned here, and move forward?

agreed  and I'll hold my tongue with what I truely want to quote and reply to regarding some select comments recently posted

everyone go fly in the Arena   :airplane:
"When one considers just what they should say to a new pilot who is logging in Aces High, the mind becomes confused in the complex maze of info it is necessary for the new player to know. All of it is important; most of it vital; and all of it just too much for one brain to absorb in 1-2 lessons" TC

I'll just throw this out there....

Some times the AvA is cool, other times its dweeby
 examples

1) I've been there and had great fights against ltCap1 and several others where the fights were good clean fun.  :salute cap, you were flying that p39 much better than I could.

2) I've also been there when there was 2 people, who would make a point to fly spit 16s and only fight when they could ho & gang.  One would engage while the the other would making hoing passes at you, then they would cheer as if they accomplished something great. Mind you there were only 3 people there me and 2 others. To their credit, I was the only target.

It all comes down to whom is in the AvA. If there are people who are fun to play against, the AvA is great, if there are not its not. Because of the lower numbers, unlike the MA, you can't exert as much discretion on who you fight.

Yeah, that's right, you just got your rear handed to you by a fuggly puppet!
