I've glanced through the groups and was wondering if there were any squads that were dedicated to B-17G heavy bombing?

Hi Shade,
It's a squeak being homeless, huh?

Nope, no dedicated HBGs that I know of.
The Dickweed Heavy Bomb Group was here awhile back but regained their sanity and left.

I had some bomber guys and they found fighters and never looked back.

There are sometimes large bomber missions but they are usually flown by whoever is in possession of the ultra realistic A1.

I thought of starting a Bombers only squad but why bother, no one wants to escort and if you get above 20k all the fighter guys start cryin' cause it takes em too long to get up there and shoot ya down with their anything but Axis airplane.

When  some of the terrain guys get something going or HTC decides to add some historical terrain there may be a reason to try something.

As the main stands now it is sorta like flying in Alices' Wonderland.

BUT, if anyone wants to join we can grab some B17s and fly over the furballs and bomb strictly strategic targets, if I never bomb another airfield I will be happy.

With the demise of B17-2 there might be a few bomber pilots looking for a home so now might be a good time to see if there is room in Wonderland for a dedicated HBG.

Got any ideas?

I am and will remain Knight, hopping countries isn't my thing.

I thought I might run into you!

Well, I'm thinking since the B-17 II crap went down the toilet, I'm thinking sadly that the v91st and everyone may  become several splinter groups.  It may not be a bad idea to test the waters and see what we can do. What do you think?  we should probably continue this conversation via Email.

If anybody ever wants to start an RAF bomber squadron, 308 will be there to escort you.

Shade,

The 99th "Raging Rooks" while not primarily a buff squadron, does do many buff missions.

We are aspiring to be a complete strike package squadron, buffs, fighters, and c47's
for field captures.

We always have a place for buff drivers
(If u enjoy flying for Rooks)

The Dickweed Heavy Bomber Group was a great squad here, mostly real aviation guys.

I think they left AH to saty with WBS due to B17 model issue/problems/disagreements.

I can only speculate, but with the awsome firepower of the Buffs now, and addition of the new Bombers in 1.04, they will be back.

I sure hope so.

Ripsnort and VMF-323, thank you.
I pity those who run into your guys and hope we get some realistic terrain for them to fight in soon..
I made the SEA deal last night and it was good, hope to make many more of them.

Rocket and Red Dragons, thank you also and I will do just that if I can get enough guys in bombers to make it worth your outfits time.

I hate to ask for long boring escort if only a couple of bombers are going and that is usually the case.
We try to pick up escort on the way but that seldom works.

We Knight Bombers will soon get our act together, I hope.

Sun,
The Musketeer Escadrille would be happy to escort you and probably throw in a couple of buff drivers also!

If you ever get the chance, come on over to Rook and look me up when I'm online.

If you're ever on the knights and want an escort, throw me a line and if I'm not allready commited to another sortie I'll be more than happy to hop in my trusty P-51 and fly some escort.

Thank you all, we are trying to get our bombers together and see if we can survive in the main.

So far it is slow going but others are working on it besides me now so something may actually happen.

We will keep you posted.

I've only begun in AH, but have been into simulations since 1988. With the demise of MP B17 II, I'm into an RAF bomber squadron. Have some personal history here since my father retired RCAF in 1983.

I have a good friend, also Canadian, who is also interested in flying.

We do have specific ideas about this though. We are both looking for committed gunners to fly onboard       And we do want committed escort.

btw, I think we'll go for the Rooks or the Bishops. Looks like the Knights don't need that much help

Mail me anytime at viking11@home.com
