Don't know if it is from the squadron that is acceptable or not?

Was hoping some one else may have info on this one.

Would hazzard a guess of: pre-war state-side trainer.

EDIT: Or wartime stateside trainer, but maybe a later model (like F2a3 and later?)

Their use with US stars was very limited.

Some F4U-4's.

Not sure if this would qualify for inclusion?
Interesting the RAAF DAP MK21 Beaufighter in the back ground. I did not know that unit headed all the way to Okinawa.

This is a good picture I just don't have any info as to what unit though? Maybe some of you F4U guys can help on that one.

the thing about ferry colors is they were often repainted before being given to combat units. You wouldn't really have a plane flying for "unit X" without "unit X" markings on it. Even if provisional or temporary markings. There were intermediate steps between the photo you posted and how it would have looked actually flying its first combat mission.

Found out some more info on this aircraft of interest. I posted this picture in this Brewster forum.

http://warbirdsforum.yuku.com/topic/1263/Any-info-on-this-aircraft

It turns out at the time of the photo it was a trainer but it also was previously a combat bird that was at Midway with kills to its credit.

It was flown by Capt. William C Humberd USMC.

This is what the aircraft looked like at Midway.

Oh & we already have this skin in game.  :D

Since my fellow Australians did not use the Sherman during WWII lets go with the next best thing.

Kiwi Sherman's. :aok

Not sure where the Sherman I & III would fall in AHII though. :headscratch:

Kiwi's even had the Firefly.

I have photos of all the above profiles as well as a number of other tanks that could be skinned if any one wanted something else.

Also all the photos I have showing the tops of these New Zealand tanks have a USA emblem on top as shown here.

Some Decals.

I have photos of these tanks as well.

Decided to tack this link on to this thread just so I can get the New Zealand Firefly unit back in the mix.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/59987896/The-M4-Sherman-at-War-1-The-European-Theater-1942-1945

That aside this link has some great photos & profiles as well such as this tank with the pin up on it.
