What the heck does this mean?
« on: January 31, 2011, 05:03:19 PM »
Squid got his asvabs back today but internet searches on how to interpret the data have, thus far, yielded nothing that helps.  From the way I'm currently reading it he's either a genius or or a mouth breathing dolt.

Anybody know how to interpret this stuff?

Anything would be a help right now.  It 'looks' good to me but I'd like to research possible mos's that he could explore with the recruiter when we get to that step.

Shoot me a PM, I'll call him this evening and see if it's ok for me to give out his number.

It's just an aptitude test.

If he spelled his name correctly, he passed.

If his GT score is above 110, he passed with flying colors.

ya it's a bit confusing and I'm sure it's relatively simple to understand once you have the proper information.  I can joke about it but this is Squids future so I want to give him as much advice and info as I can and let him make his own decisions.

I got a 96 out of 100 for the total score deal they give ya.  GT score was 128.  I originally was going into the Navy to be trained as a nuclear engineer (and end up on a carrier or sub).  It just so happened the Army recruiter was directly across the hall from my Navy one.  One day when I walked out into the hall to leave, the Army recruiter talked me into coming over & talking with him.  Needless to say, the Army recruiter stole me from his Navy counterpart, and the rest is explosive history.  If I'd gone the Navy route, I'd probably have a lot less scars & have all my original body parts, but I'd probably glow in the dark! :lol  I'd be making big bucks in the civi world though going the nuclear route. :cry

If you get a 50 you can NOT do whatever it is you want. I got a 98 and my recruiter kept telling me to go intel. My friend who joined with me didn't do so hot. Did NOT qualify for intel.

slightly unrelated, but I have a question for you mil/exmil folks. I'm planning on enlisting in the airforce after getting my bachelors in Aerospace Engineering at CalPoly. In other words, probably will be some time between 3-5 years depending on when I can transfer. What can I do during that time in order to make it easier on me besides physical training/working out? I hope to fly one way or another and (not trying to brag) am very intelligent (scored in the top 1-.75% on the ACT) with 1 question off of a perfect score in science.

tl;dr Joining airforce after college to fly, what do i do before then?
