Once Treyarch stole the CoD Engine from IW, the series steamrolled downhill.

CoD 4 was an excellent game, a great step into new territory. Gayarch stole the CoD4 Engine, edited it,
and came out with World of Fail. Activision ruined the CoD series by giving Gayarch the rights to take
the CoD engine. Activision wanted a CoD game out every year to bring in the $$$, but IW wouldn't have
it. IW was rushed when it came to MW2, Activision pressured them into a premature, therefore buggy
release.

Treyarch in association with Activision, ruined the franchise.

I have never been able to get a Treyarch CoD game to even play on my system. Even bought a brand new comp. loaded WoW and it crashed every time when I tried to run it. I will never buy a game made by Treyarch ever again.

Infinity Ward made all the best games.  Also trey-arch never made the engines Cod 5 was off of Cod 4's and Black ops is off of MW2's.  I wont even speak about cod 3....

I pray that Dice don't screw-fuk BF3 as BF2 was the best FPS title that I've ever played!

hahah now its my turn to say "this" i have to completely agree, BF2 was by far the best fps ever made ever, if it was still big id play that all day, chopper pilot champ right here

COD4 was fantastic and yes the other three were clones of this, but that still makes four titles in total.

Looking forward, does anybody think Homefront is going to be the next big name in FPS? Frankly I think COD is on its way out as the big name franchise, it happened to all fps's before it. Is it time for a change and do you think homefront will it?

Frontlines sucked.  Kaos doesn't have DICE or IW's budget.  They're reportedly in a serious crunch to finish it in time.  No sign yet in news that multiplayer is outstanding - journalists would be falling over themselves to report it.  What little they've shown of single player mode looked boring. 

There isn't one studio out there that's seriously doing anything new, which is crazy because it really wouldn't take much for any of the top competitors to tweak their formula just a little bit to get the last 10% that everyone's missing.
