P47N OR p47M

Witch has the better climb rate P47N OR P47M. I have not seen a write up on the M model. :headscratch:

You've never played the game and been in the hanger and right clicked your map to see the diff?   :bolt:

That is a easy question if you know what the M is used for and N is used for.

Yes, but those tests were done with full fuel... One of those planes had a LOT of extra weight onboard.

When loaded out similarly, they perform just about the same. It's the purpose/role you want them to perform: You want to dogfight? Try the M. It's got a lighter weight. You want to fly 1000mi and back, lug around 3000lbs of ord, or possibly escort B-29s to Japan and back? Try the N.

They have the same engine. The only "major" differences are loadout options and the "empty weight" on the 47N is noticably higher than on the 47M. (edit: I took an artistic license and greatly simplified the comparison)

What Krusty said, + use wep on climb-out for N, just give to motor a few min to cool off before you start fighting, else you will have a REALLY heavy plane in a knife fight, and lose that extra horsepower you were counting on
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

The "M" is used for bashing heads
The "N" is used for art!  ;)

That really makes no sense at all.

The 2 planes are really similar. Just about anything you can do in a 47M you can do in a 47N. The reverse is not true because of the loadout options missing from the 47M.

I believe the differences tween the two are quite significant actually, the N has larger wing and spar on its spine. The actual flying performance of the 2 are very different indeed.

The only advantage the M has over the N is horsepower. IMHO

Not so.

The end flying "feel" is very similar, as long as you're not trying to compare max weights. I've made the 47N dance and sing just as well as I've made the 47M dance and sing. There's only a few mph difference between the two. The N's climb rate is a little lower because of the extra empty weight, but is still superior to the D-40 model.

Whatever you can do in a 47M, you can also do in a 47N. It really is that easy. They're both quite capable performers.

EDIT: The M and N have the exact same engine... Horsepower is identical. Only issues are frame-related or weight-related.

I would say you can do more in the N than the M. But that's just me, what the h3ll do I know  ;)

Actually they DO NOT feel similar at all IMO. Just saying  ;)

I am absolutely positive that Yucca would agree with me on this  ;)

If you fly them both light, they do. If you're loading the N down with a couple thousand pounds of gas, then you're right, you'll feel the difference.

But then, I suppose I'm one of the few that actually dogfights (or... used to) the 47N in a light configuration. Most folks just climb to 30K, make passes on somebody below them, then run for home. (or, they suicide pork CVs or fields with no intention of surviving)
