superbowl pregame
« on: February 06, 2011, 05:05:44 PM »
I thought the reading of the declaration of independence during the fox superbowl pregame was particularly nice.  Tastefully done I think, not too showy, and certainly better than past ones that have featured various hollyweird celebrities doing the same old same old.

They even took a little time to do a real interview of Pres Obama but except to note that he seemed irritated that he had to dress in a suit to watch the game, I won't mention what else he said due to rule #14 :)

What did YOU like or dislike about this year's superbowl pregame?  I'm glad I tuned in, if for nothing else but the reading.

I hate it when people try and make the national anthem sound like a pop song. Its the national anthem, show some respect.

I think she got the words wrong too.  Wasn't listening too closely but my brain stuttered about halfway through and it sounded like she totally messed it up.

Say what you will about Whitney Houston, but her performance of the National Anthem was by far the best I've ever seen.  :aok. It seems like every else tries to do it as well, but never comes close.

Agreed,I wasn't really moved by her rendition. Whitneys to this day gives me the chills

Surely you jest.

She didn't sound any worse than if I'd been the one singing it...  Plus that wasn't the superbowl.  Rosanne probably shouldn't have been allowed to sing it.  For a well known singer to ruin it at the superbowl though... Horrible.  Someone should have told her to just sing it straight up, neat and as cleanly as possible.

Edit:  On further review, the ruling on the field stands.  She totally forgot the words and sang the same line twice, worst ever ruling stands.

Bah, another blown call from the replay booth.

I read all four of your words in your original post several times.
Worst.  National.  Anthem.  Ever.
"superbowl" didn't appear in it.  I'm lodging a formal protest with the commissioner.

I'm gonna hold further comments until the post-game because the court of public opinion is far more concerned with impressions and the emotions of the moment, than with your mere "facts".  Plus if I'm fined I can make it up with a little extra endorsement work.

I want to know how much Eminem made for the claymation voice acting.  What a racket.

This halftime show is a good example of why they normally lipsync this stuff.
