he's got it pretty dam close.......his voice is just a little too smooth though, and the guitar's wrong, although he's got the right beat.

i give the kid serious kudos, but no one.....i repeat NO ONE will ever rival the great Johnny Cash. he was one of a kind.

Ya, I saw him on tube a couple years ago, he's got to be alot older by now. He's pretty good. Just needs to learn how to abuse painkillers, drink too much and flip off recording studios.

Exactly, this kid is way to smooooth, his voice doesn't have the harshness and soul that Cash had.  IMO Cash sounded better the older he got, his later albums done with American Recording are my favorites by far.

To me this kid sounds more like a Josh Turner, Richard Sterban or even Tennessee Ernie Ford.

He almost sounds like Bob Dylan when he's only speaking... except with a slight accent, of course...

What's the difference between "channeling" John Cash and ripping him off?

HE Does i think. and we should probably be glad he's chosen someone with talent, rather than some drug dealer/gang banger/murderer to idolize like so many of our young people do these days.

that said, the BIO channel is running "johnny cash's america" at noon today

Quite impressive.  I hope this young lad takes the magic of JC and makes sure his fellows yongsters know that the crap they are listening to is garbage in comparison.

I was thinking the whole time he had no heart and soul behind the words.  But good voice, good luck to him.

Wife listens to Cash's last album. His voice isnt just harsh. Its outright sad. I like Cash, always have. But I cant listen to that album. He just sounded horrible in it.

This kid sounds great though. His voice, while similar to Cash's has a much richer tone quality to it though. I think with some coaching, he has a real future ahead of him.
