i think this is the first thing you've gotten right in this entire thread.

 toyota has actually equaled honda, and in some instances surpassed them in reliability. i would not hesitate to have a camry, or a corolla.......a prius though....i can't stomach them.

That 576/543, is that engine or rear wheel numbers?  either case with a 2200lb car that's got to be pretty insane .  Wish I knew you were a car guy at the convention last year, would of loved to talk cars   I'm all the sudden thinking my vette needs to go on a diet or bigger blower

That is the engine.  No car to put it in yet.

Most of the Cobras, in the lot I hang around with, have engines that run from 500 to 650HP.  There is one with a stock 302 in it, and another one with a stock 351C in it, but the rest are pretty much over the top.

One guy has a Hennessey Viper V-10 engine in it (around a 1,000HP).  Another one has a BWM M series V-8 in it.

The problem with the high horsepower is getting a decent launch.  However, those cars also have no problem parking the speedometer at 185MPH for hours on end.  185MPH is considered to be the safest top speed for a Cobra, due to the lousy aerodynamics of the car.

There is a video of a Cobra running down a straight away at 180MPH, and the rear end lifts enough the tires start spinning and smoking.  The driver shed a few pounds of poop when that happened.

 i can't begin to tell you the crap i've seen. i've seen people spend $500+ on tires just to turn it back in. few hundred on brakes. suspension work. body work....

people end up spending money that they shouldn't have to spend just to avoid penalties when they turn them in. i wouldn't do it.

And here we go again with the myths.  Really?  The wear and tear on parts like tires is included in your payments.  Everything is calculated in.  This is why you pay for the extra millage.  To cover wear and tear on breaks, tires, belts etc.  I don;t know if you guys talk from ignorance or if the people you are talking about were so ignorant they thought they had to fix all that.

Once again, everything is included in the price and the extras are covered by the millage charges.  But don't let facts stop you.  Keep scaring people, passing along rumors and incorrect information, and above all do not look into anything new.  After all, the rest of us are all idiots.

the facts are that i've had customers walk in and tell me that they were told by the dealer that the items i mentioned had to be in good shape when they turn in the lease, or else they were going to be charged for it.

 so either the dealer was lying to the customer(highly likely now that i think of it) or the customer misunderstood the dealer.

 i think a lot of people(at least around here) lease, because it lets them drive a car that is beyond their means. i don't believe in leasing. a good friend of mine had been leasing for years, and i kept blasting him about it(cause i could )

 finally one day we were at the archery range, and he realized that he's been throwing so much money away on therm......he turned in his last lease, and now owns his car.

  The dealer?  The car belongs to the finance company.  What does the dealer have to do with anything?  I agree, the dealer either lied or the customer misunderstood.  It is also probable that the customer tried to turn the car into the dealer and get a new car in witch case the dealer would have to buy it from the finance company.  In that case, the dealer did not lie.  He would give him more money for the trade in if all that was fixed.  It comes down to people not having a clue and not bothering to get one.  Spreading inaccurate information as facts does not help.

In either case, it does not make it OK for you to tell people not to lease and spread rumors and inaccurate information as facts, does it?

I've used $0 down leases since 96.  Wife owns hers and I keep a fresh ready if hers were to ever have issue.  I agree though, leasing isn't for everyone.

For the record, the Fusion has dethroned the Camry and Accord.

Nop, running an IT department from a trading firm.  Nothing to do with cars.  But I have been leasing for the past 15 years and never encountered these things mentioned here.

Its not for everyone.  If you want a new M3 every 2 years or use a car for business, you lease.  If you like to keep your car or work on it and customize it, you buy.  Just examples.

I just thought that there was a lot of misinformation being spread.  By the way, the guys you mentioned make money when you buy a car also.  What ever you tried to imply was still based on ignorance.  Did you really think that it would be possible for me to make money by asking you guys to lease from me?  You don;t know where I am and I don;t know where you are     Not everything you guys don;t understand is a scam.  Read teh contract.  It binds them as it binds you.
