GV positions
« on: February 16, 2011, 10:38:22 AM »
I would like to see GVs receive pilot kills if their drivers or pintle gunners are exposed to fire.  Most I feel hit the page up key so they can drive their GVs from a very open field of view.  If they are in this exposed position, then create a damage window there.  Especially with the pintle gun.  That little rascal seems to be able to shoot through the front of an IL-2 and wound the pilot.  It should be quid pro quo.

I had a PW in a jeep, so it's possible.

Driver has been wounded on two occasions in gv's recently.

Last I remember was my M-8 vs. Wirble 20mm. PW and flat RF tire. Couldn't drive from the turret.   :frown:

I wonder what it takes then?  Sounds like it is off to the DA for some experimentation.  The reason why I bring this up is really over the driver position in tanks.  I have my get set full out so I can see where I am going, but boy would it make it exponentially more difficult if I could be killed by machine gun fire while in the position.

Can understand but then there goes the Panther as they did not model it with the periscope. Also you would have to model each position to taking damage like a first person shooter game, which according to HTC post in the past is something they want to develop into for taking bases... :salute

If it happens, it is a bug.

And I can say despite more than 3500 deaths in GV, I have never ever had a PW.

Maybe your doing it wrong  :lol

The one most maddening to me is the pintle gun.  Only if you hit the weapon is the position destroyed.  Pfft.

Wrong in which way? That it is a bug? That it never happened to me in more than 15,000 sorties?

never happened to me either. doesnt mean its a bug. just means it has never happened to you. ive heard of PWs in vehicles a few times. it is rare but ive heard of it. doubtful theyd keep it all this time if it was a bug.

If it happens to a few people, on less than a handfull occasions, out if literally millions of sorties.. and most players, even those with tens of thousands of sorties never happen to get one - does that sound like a feature? Or don't you think if PW's were meant to be part of the ground game, they would happen slightly more often than once in a million? ;)

Besides, it's not the first time this extremely rare occurrence has been discussed here :)

If you have/had an older version of the game you bring up the damage list in a GV and it has a Driver wounded spot tried it with a tiger mg shooting a jeep driver but noting happened...     Also killed a plane with a Sherman VC smoke launcher ...
