Because on the of the most important missions that WW2 aircraft flew were
reconaissance missions many of which were flown over hundreds of miles of ocean. Long range maritime aircraft were critical. That being said in the "world" of the Main Arena a/c like that are not really needed as you can just roll a fighter often to scout a Task Group or overfly GVs to spot them.
As for th PBY in AH I would like to see it because it would be used in Special Events setups. Thankfully HTC does not just provide 1945 fighter planes in the game.
