V98, our Alamo against the Knight Onslaught
« on: February 19, 2011, 01:44:54 AM »
As you know, the Map in Blue this evening (not sure of name) has that pesky little VBase at the end of the Peninsula marked V98 just South of A97. We Bishop assaulted and took that base. Now, as it has no way of being reinforced due to Nits/Rooks always destroying CV as soon as base is taken, it is really no use unless you take its Northern airfield. Well, tonight, there were 5 of us brave Bish that would not quit, would not surrender, would not go without a fight, and we held the base for possibly more than 3 hours, but 3 hours at least. The Evil Knight Army, Air Force, and Navy threw everything they had at the 5 of us, and we turned thier Armor, Air, and Landing Craft into burning, twisted piles of metal. The AAR cannot be accurate as the base was finally taken, But I would be pretty close in sayin this:

Over the course of the battle we destroyed possibly 100+ Aircraft and 30+ Armored Vehicles

This Post is to Salute those brave Bish who stood tall and would not bend or break until there was absolutely no way we could defend it anymore. The 5 (maybe 1 or 2 others, but I know there were 5 of us that were there the whole time) of us pinned down I would say at least 85% of all Nits fighting on all fronts for that period. I just wanted to make sure that those BRAVE BISHOP KNOW that it was an honor fighting with them.

I was there for about an hour to end the night.  That was a blast.  Nits were throwing everything they had at us.  I went from 17 pounder to Tiger to manned ack to Wirble and a few things in between.   :salute to the Bish defenders and all the mothers, wives and children of the Nits who never got home.

BTW that base is on an island and the map is Trinity.  Big thanks to NB for the map and HT for bringing it back.

I flew a P51 over there a couple times, but it was a long flight and both times I ran out of bullets.
