B29 Speed & our Hot Rods
« on: February 19, 2011, 09:42:11 AM »
N/M Jugs, 51, 4Hog, K4, Spit 16/14, 152/D9, looking at 20k speeds to spank those 357 mph (who knows if Wiki be right & and what alt . . . don't know) Superfortresses

Of course, under the cloud layer then it's lots of ka-booming for all buffs and fiters.

The 357 mph is given for 30k.

And as the 29 will be a perked buff, I bet many players will tend to stay well over 20k to protect their perks.

Going after them in a 163 will be fun for sure! I hope the perks will be on the high side since these planes weren't used very long before the end of the war.

Perks are meant to balance the game and are in no way related to production numbers or time in service.
If they they very, the Ta 152, Wirbelwind & Ostwind would be perked heavily.

Oh, and the B-29 was in combat for about 15 months, more than many other planes and vehicles we do have in AH ;)

I really am getting sick of the "PERK PERK IT HIGH crowd" only reason they want it perked is because they are to lazy to get up and figure a way out to kill it.

How long have you got? Max Alt isn't necessarily a game feature, it's usually aircraft related, however there was a time in online combat flight games that a goon could get high enough to go supersonic, and see that the world was indeed, round. Those were the days.

A few weeks ago I flew a Ta-152 up to 50,000 feet. After that my plane disappeared but I wasn't falling toward the Earth. I don't remember if I ".ef"'d or "End Sortie"'d in the clipboard to get out of it, but 50K is definitely the max as far as I know. Go higher and your plane vaporizes.

I'm pretty sure there is a Rook flag planted on the moon.  The guy who planted it probably had to drop altitude a little first though...    :bolt:

Over 80K

the 100K statement is TRUE

If you Shift X on a climb, you see how unstable it is that high though. Auto pilot will use the ailerons to keep it straight....it's a bumpy ride

Perhaps it was the Ta that couldn't handle that altitude...
