Hi,

I think these guys are flying this plane now on the LockOn / FC2 servers.  The server(s) have separate rooms that can be setup to however or whatever parameters you want to include and some are password only entry.  Access to the servers is included in the program as a desktop shortcut.  I was told Hyperlobby is not how they do it anymore for these games.  And it looks like the severs are free.

Their squad is Savage 77th; they fly 8 PM Eastern time zone, don't know what days.  I found them on a Google search.  He is walking me through bit by bit with Flaming Cliffs 2.

http://www.s77th.com/

He told me in FC2 they flew the Su-33 exclusively.  But because of the realism of the DCS series, they were switching to that instead.  This guy told me the A-10 was still in Beta, but the $60 covers all new revisions and the final version without further cash outlay.  I was told this 3 days ago.

I too will get into this as well as Falcon 4 and whatever the expansion add-ons are.

Extremely interesting and a challenge for this old fart to learn something new.  And my new i7-920 chip PC has a game that I can use with everything turned on full blast and no discos.

It would be nice if the AI ground vehicles had real people in them.

I think the Black Shark helicopter may be similar to the USA Cobra gunship.  Tactics to both is to use the terrain to hide in.

YouTube has videos.

Heck of a learning curve, though.

He was correct right up until late yesterday....21 February....then he was behind the news. This thing blows Flaming Cliffs out of the water by a long shot.

An extremely heavy duty learning curve but it does have a game mode...more like an arcade type setting to get into the game in though.

Hi,

Where did you buy yours?

I agree.  I'm going to get this A-10 from the DCS people and why waste my time with the FC2 I spent $20 on.  Well, I will learn that, too, what the heck.  Better than playing cards, chess or checkers.

I did get setup with TeamSpeak 3.

Also am going to get the Track IR.  It is time to take the gaming more seriously

http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/

I don't have the 3 screen setup, yet, but my PC has that option.  I have a 24 inch LCD monitor.

I was just put on the Nexium pill for my lousy bad case of GERD.  I've had GERD forever.  I had it before it was called GERD.  My insurance does not cover Nexium.  60 pills for 30 days taken twice per day costs just shy of $400 a month!  I priced it several different drug stores.  Well, I know where my savings is going to be going until I reach Medicare age.  I think I can treat myself to some game frivolities and do something else than Aces High.

I still think the drug companies are sitting on top of the cures for a lot of diseases in a vault in Switzerland.  I know the car companies would buy up great ideas and never develop them and just sit on them.  Profit is all that matters and planned obsolescence.

I did the pre-purchase when it was in Beta and bought it directly from DCS via their website.

It still seems to be fairly buggy, I'm not even able to launch it as of now.

Discovered that it's a memory issue. High textures will not run on XP. :(

You're right there. Truth is I'm amazed such a complex software can run on my system.

But then, what do I know about computers? :)

The flight model, weapon systems, and avionics appear to be so accurate you'd think they wouldn't have time to mess with graphics, and yet...

I won't be doing Aces High much anymore.  This new DCS series of a year or two ago is going to take total mind immersion.  I will be reading a lot and dying a lot.

Trust me when I say that you will appreciate the simplicity of the WW2 type aircraft much more after a few days learning the start up procedures for Black Shark and the A-10C. I got the start up for A-10C down in about a day after sitting in the hangar just starting and shutting down the plane over and over. Its easy to do; much more so that the Black Shark start up process. Which takes me about 10 minutes on a good day; I like that game but its just a PITA to get started and flying.
