what's up with the large spiral maps?
« on: February 26, 2011, 08:21:56 AM »
working two job means i can usually log on during weekends, mostly mornings, and seems it always uterus, or balkans or other such older, smaller maps.

they aren't GV freindly, and as a dedicated GVer, this limits my enjoyment of the game.

ok, so, a whine has been recorded!  :P

Please, if I may ask couple questions of you and open to any other "dedicated GV'ers whom would care to reply  I ask without judgement and without any intention of flaming you or calling into question your motives or abilities.  I also do not mean to imply that you shouldn't be here or the game should not have GV'ers, but this:

Is there no game where it is all about Ground Vehicles that is quality and worth playing ?

If there is such a game, is it the lack of aircraft "there" that makes it more appealing "here" ?

What your saying is there are no good spawn camps on those maps so there are never any good fights? Right?

Maybe using GVs as intended....hmmm get 4 or 5 guys together and spawn in and then send a few around one side, and a few around the other. Waiting till everyone can get into a good position before starting the attack. Co-ordinating all moves over the radio. Hitting the base from 5 sides at once (not coming in on a strait line from the spawn point really messes with the enemies mind  :devil )

kiss it. i never spawn-camp. or spawn into a camp. bor-ing.

this game provide lots to do with a tank.

but if you look at the present map right this minute, there are no GV spawns into a nme base. that's my major gripe.

the thrust of my post was more to inquire about a where abouts of the big maps, like Tagma, etc.

anybody know what's up with them?

I think they are all still in rotation, but they may be using the small maps in the "off hours" arena so that the population density stays higher.

Where do the gv spawns go?

Well, at least with Balkans, there are very few GV spawns - the majority of the bases do not have spawns to any other bases, so on an average day with this map you're lucky if you have a single enemy base that you can spawn a GV near in order to start a GV fight.

So, to answer your question, on this map the majority of the GV spawns go......... into the VH on whatever airfield you happen to be in the tower at, and nowhere else.

And for those who question "why" people want to GV in a game named "Aces High," well, I suppose you're smarter than HiTech since he was apparently dumb enough to include them in the game.

Tagma is currently up every evening in LWO.

The current offpeak map is indeed particularly bad for GV play most of the time, currently rooks do not have any spawn towards enemy base - and every Rook base that has an enemy spawn to it is an uncapturable one, which means no GVs spawn in at all.
We have small maps in rotation that are much better for GVs, (Grinder, beta2) but then they usually lack something else, so no map will ever please everybody
It's difficult to make a small map suited to every players style all the time.

The OP was concerning "Off Hours" where we have small maps.... that all seem to be lacking in GV spawns.

Question: What would we need to do to have someone modify an existing map in order to add additional GV spawns between bases?

Now that's a pretty good wish right there.

Update the older maps (back when GVing wasn't as prevalent) to make them more GV friendly.

I really hate the current off-hours map.

Its time for it to be changed
