From what I've read, the 29s still don't take much at all to set ablaze.

Am I remembering wrong, or can small arms fire still torch one.

They are now more or less in the same class as other heavies. After all, the B-17 and lancaster can be killed by .303's too... it's just not that easy :)

It's big, buggy and way over priced.  Its like a 200 foot long 262 thats easy to catch and kill.

Enough said?  :ahand
They call it "common sense", then why is it so uncommon?

Last night I ate quite a few 30mm rounds from a Me163 but my plane held up, although I'd taken some damage. The B29 will still get a fire every so often but IMO it takes a lot more damage than it used to.

There was a 29 mission today with at least 5 sets, and they brought it in around 15k, what a blast it was, I believe the Jokers posted that one and it was awesome to see someone actually fight using them instead of avoiding combat with them. wtg!!.

Were they escorted by a gaggle of 262s?  I think I may have been part of the defense on that one.  Fun!

Not hard at all to figure out where buff formations are upping from.

Same way you could figure it out in Air Warrior as well.

Hey Badhorse <S>

I will tell you why I think you dont see many of them.

When I first realized that the B-29 was available I was very excited. Even with the perk points to fly I was still excited because the Actual B-29 we a very formidable weapons platform with a huge bomb load capacity. Then I went to the Training Arena and jumped in one for a test ride. Took all of the runway even with 50% fuel but I expected that as I had 40 500lb bombs on board and its a big bird. So I get airborne grab a few K alt and am cruisin through all the gages and controls. Still very excited at this point.

Then I start checking out the guns... WHAMMY... wtf!! Where the heck are half the guns? Like the huge mutli-gun turrets on both the top and bottom of the AC? Where are they? I start looking around and all I can find are Nose (with only high angle coverage), Tail (wilh almost no visibility whatsoever) Right and Left (with extremely little coverage any were but level ). And I immediatly realise this thing is a a Laviathon PIG with no guns to defend itself. The gun coverage is even worse that a Lanc. At least on a Lanc I can see something in my gun sights.

So I figure there must be some info on AH page somewhere telling me about where all these other turrets are and how to access them. Spend about 20 fruitless minutes and find Zip about them. At this point I am very dissatisfied about the B-29 regadless of Perk cost. As far as I can see I wont be flying this thing in any arena other than Special Events. Which I did fly a few times when it came out and the gun coverage really isnt there at all.

So now I am wondering what was High Tech thinking when they put this thing out into the game? I have to say I am really dissappointed in High Tech for this.

So if there is any access to the 4 other turrets that as far as I have found are not available I would really like to know how to man them. Cause I refuse to take a 300 Perk point BLIMP into the MA. I consider myself pretty good with Buffs. I can give you guys that really know how to take them down a decent fight most of the time. But not with this thing. This thing couldnt fight its way out of a wet napkin IMHO.

So this is why I think you dont see many because I dont think many others differ much from my impression of this bird at this point. I sure hope High Tech corrects this and installs these other guns and repairs the visiblity issues with them. Once that happens... then I will go at it with you guys in this bird.

Later,
KayBay

Hmmm, I was able to get one up from a 5k base 100% fuel 8k lbs. ord. I thought the guns were pretty good I was able to light up several fighters before they could light me up.  And the thing is fast.
I was also able to land one dead stick after running out of fuel and gliding three sectors. that was fun. :D
Of course I don't normally drive buff's, so what do I know.

Kaybay..your very misinformed. Read about the b29 in real life.
HTC has done a very good job. I have crawled through every space on fi-fi, the last fliyin b-29...the ah modeling is excellent.   When I sat in the tail gunners seat its cramped and visual not so hot.

Sheite load of lead gets flung from all the guns ....sweeeet
