add a (dot) commands
« on: March 01, 2011, 02:01:43 PM »
please add a (dot)command for changing joystick modes, such as .mode 1-4 to help with people who have mgs mapped to button and cannons set to another.      I feel this would help people who fly both Axis and Allied plane sets.

and another please add a (dot)command for the E6B (per shiv) lol

You can map it to a joystick button or keys on your keyboard now.

One keystroke versus (dot) M O D E 3  ?

ESC-->options-->map controllers or map keyboard, I think.

I have it mapped to a button on my stick. Hit the button, mode 3. Hit the button again, mode 1.
I have three unused buttons on my keyboard number pad mapped to chose mode 1, 2, 3 or 4.

It quite simple as it is to do now.

But, if you really want a dot command....

+1 on this, the modes can be a total PITA when playing on a laptop.  And using the clipboard can be irritatingly slow at times.
Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

You only need to set up the buttons once with the clip board. Ever.

Program the button or key you want and it's done.

But if you want to open a text box and type six characters and hit enter on a laptop keyboard instead of pressing one button they  :aok for you.

It's kind of like asking for a dot command to raise your gear or turn on WEP.

I switch between mode 1 and 2 constantly as I use my hat switch on mode 2 to get the "UP" views.

A button is set to switch between mode 1-2 another to switch between  3 -4, Mode 3 setup for the CM eye, mode 4 the axis's are mapped to control TRIM instead of the axis.

So I can if I need to trim out of a compression dive, push a button, pull the stick full back, push a button, and be back in flight mode, with elev trim set to full up.

Its really not hard to setup.

In map controls, select mode 2, "copy mode 1" button. This gives the joystick the exact same setup as mode 1.
Then pick the button you want to use. Making sure your in mode 2, set button to "set mode 1" then change mode back to mode 1. Same button, but set it to switch to mode 2.

So if your in mode 1, push the button, it changes you to mode 2.
If your in mode 2 and push the button it changes you to mode 1.

simple alternating switch.

I use a MS sidewinder prec 2 with only 8 buttons, and I tend to be a minimalist where mapping is concerned.
But with the system that HTC gave us to play with you can do almost ANYTHING you can imagine.
