Fundamental change to new vehicles and upgrades
« on: March 02, 2011, 01:07:33 PM »
I'd like to see a fundamental shift in how HTC provides new vehicles.I actually hijacked another thread with this so now it is here.
HTC should make a "base inventory list" of vehicles that includes early, mid and late war types. This inventory would be the "basic" enrollment list for $15.00 per month. then a list of new, rare, and uber rides to be purchased for a one time payment of $1 - $5 to have one vehicle added to your clipboard.

Being a business owner myself I think this would incentivise the company to add more vehicles and upgrades at a more frequent rate than is experienced now.

I have seen a few peeps on the BBs make statements about the current client #s of AH being stagnent, yet consistent at 3500- 4000 folks. I actually have no idea what the #s are But my feeling is as far as the "MMO" part of AH it doesn't seem to be growing. Again I have nothing to back this statement up.
But, my experience with "incentives" for companies and employees pays off BIG in performance and timeliness.

I would like to see more stuff from HTC but I also think it is more than fair to motivate them by the 1 thing that will, $

I believe I would find this system very frustrating, and ultimately only hurt the bottom dollar of HTC.

Honestly, what is wrong with a 1 time payment of a couple bucks to get more of what you want?

It's just not a attractive formula with most people, from everything I've seen.  Being one of those people who are turned off by it, I'll say:  I'd rather pay more per month than some per vehicle/skin/whatever microtransaction formula.  Unless the model/skin/etc price was negligible... But really this is just another manifestation of the same thing: I'd rather pay the one total price monthly than have all sorts of items adding up to that same price.

What can you do to change this (probably irrational) preference?  If nothing, then you might as well deal with it: stick to single monthly payments.

IMO they should focus on advertising before every even considering your idea :)

99.9718% of people have never heard of Aces High 2

Do more commercials on history and military channel.

Also everything else in this economy is going up why not bump subscription prices to 19.95$

DLC might be barely tolerable for stand-alone software you buy once. For subscription service? Forget it.

It will anger, alienate, and piss off most of your subscribers. The subscription fee itself dictates your payment for access to the game. Not some variable based on an arbitrary want/wish to trim down the number of "uber" planes you see in the game.

Jug,

I understand what your saying, afterall $$$ is a great motivator but wouldn't this idea unbalance things??

You'd have players that have plenty of money to throw around with a complete hanger full of the latest and greatest but you'd also have many players without the means to fill their hanger and by your example they'd be penalized by virtue of only having access to the "limited planeset".

My 2 cents on the subject.

DLC works on large games, such as the Call of Duty series or Halo series, It is easy because they run off many servers.

With HTC, it would be extremely hard to implement at server with the DLC and have enough people to populate it.

Say 200 people download the nuke for the B29, they would have to be put in a different server, an then only those 200 people could use the DLC together (max of 50 people in arena at one time).

DLC is just not going to work with a game with this small of a community base, now if we could get another 100,000 people, then your talkin!

The problem is that people already feel like they have paid for the game with the original monthly payment. Paying more money for an extra feature (uber planes/GV's/boats) of a product that they already paid for doesn't sit well with people.
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.
